DesertBull Report post Posted January 12, 2014 />I sat in a tree a few years ago above a spring up there. Then a kid in shorts come skippity do dah through the woods down that steep hill and out of site below the spring. About 30 minutes later he came back out with a white plastic shopping bag full of something. I had no clue at the time what it was. Then i got pulled over by a highway patrol headed down to camp as I was watching a doe on the side of the road. He asked me if i had seen anything strange up where i was hunting. When I told him what I saw he got all excited. Turns out someone tapped into the ranchers black water pipe that I helped a small part of putting in at the spring and made a pot garden. Last time I stepped foot in the area. The deer aint worth it, you guys can have it. My hunting partner that lives right there in Sunflower still hunts it though. Same trip i helped a guy that rolled his SUV half way down the hill, had to call in rescue for him, also had a mountain lion come under my tree the day before that kid showed up. Found out the Sheriff in charge knew of my tree stand, my partners tree stand and the pot patch as they had been watching it. She called me and talked to me about the kid I saw then proceeded to tell me about my tree stands sites etc. etc.. And I wondered why I wasn't seeing any deer! GBA I found the same thing at that same spring a few years ago. About 30-40 plants.

dchambers629 Report post Posted January 13, 2014 Sorry to hear all these stories. I'm new to AZ 4 years now and have been trying my hardest to find a shooter buck with my Bow . Recently I've been up at mount Ord back on the 4x4 trail scouting and the place looks awesome ! Any tips for this area would be great I have not been back up there. I think I will wait a few years before I go back to Mt Ord. Wait and see if the traffic dies down after that burn across the highway starts getting used again. Last year was the most people I have ever seen up there. Except for two years after I had shoulder surgery, then broke my neck in 2008 and 2009, I had been hunting there since about 2001. TwoOneEight Photography Report post Posted January 15, 2014 Wow, thanks for the info. I moved here from Northern MN about 4 years now. Back home I could sit in my climber and pass on 20-30 bucks in a day, than go catch a Salmon for dinner - here I cant even find a mature buck in 4-5 years. I take notes from guides and info from local forums but you never know if their just pushing you the wrong direction lol even shed hunting. I've been out hiking, filming, glassing and burning fuel and still scratching my head. Passed on a few smaller whitetails up in Tortilla flats trail last season but that area gets pressured . Maybe my new BLACK RACKS will draw out some monsters before this hunt ends
452b264 Report post Posted January 18, 2014 I have some friends in Idaho, they packed in their camp 13 miles and set up the wall tent, cut wood and were ready for the season as they take a full month off to hunt and stay at camp the entire time, when they arrived two days before the opener the only thing left was the fire wood.
