Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Giving y'all a heads up on a new binocular harness system that I really like. It is the Bino Manager by IPI. Comfortable, very little bounce even with my heavy Leica Duovids. Lean over and the binos do not swing out from the body. No tension when lifting the binos up to view. The straps over the shoulder are 2" wide neoprene. THe element shield will be great to keep rain and dust off the lenses. I had the Crooked Horn Bino System, but the elastic straps bounced too much and the buckles slipped. Went to the Hang Tight Harness System, which were like suspenders and much better than the Crooked Horns for comfort with heavier binos, but did not work well with jackets. But these IPI Bino Managers! I purchased mine through http://www.above-timberline.com/binocular%20accessories.htm for a few dollars more than the Crooked Horns cost. Sportsmans Warehouse may also carry them. Doug~RR

coues7 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Has anyone used these with larger binoculars? I just talked to Mad Dog who makes a similar one and they said theirs were designed for 10x42 or smaller? Thanks
Ron G. Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Great, just when I thought I had everything, now I find out I need to upgrade... Looks like a good system. I actually went back to a neck strap from my CH bino system this past weekend because I had to keep the straps so tight so it didn't bounce around, and then I found myself not using the binos because there was so much tension when I brought them up to my eyes with one hand... coues7 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Which goevids does he have? I have some 12x50 Pentax that I'll be using now that I sold my Swaro's and that little baggy holder on the front looks awful small......I hope to get another pair of Swaro's some day and don't want to have to buy another setup Any input or knowledge of someone using them with at least the 10x50 SLC's or larger would be greatly appreciated! Red Rabbit Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Coues 7, I am using the Bino Manager with Leica 10+15 x 50 Duovids. They support the weight much better than the Crooked Horn harness, and as well as the Hang-Tight. The Leicas , which are 7 3/4 " tall, just fit under the chest cover. I would not try a longer bino. coues7 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Well with that statement made.....my Pentax sure has heck ain't gonna fit. Thanks
Red Rabbit Report post Posted September 22, 2006 The Bino Manager's front cover has top and bottom flaps. The bottom flap could still be used on your taller Pentaxs with the ocular lenses not covered. Still way better than the Crooked Horn system, imo. I tried it that way with my Leicas, and saw no problem that way. Doug~RR
muskrat Report post Posted August 5, 2007 Sorry for the "necro-post" but I wanted to mention that based on Doug's recommendation here last year, I bought those IPI Managers and LOVE the system...

shortpants Report post Posted September 3, 2007 Well I wish I would have read the whole topic before I ran out and bought the Mad Dog bino manager because I would have known they don't fit on my Minox 15's. That's ok cuz I'm going to buy a smaller pair of bino's pretty soon so I'll keep it for them.

Hey Jason, when i order my IPI they sent me a mad dog as well and i dont like it as much as the IP at all! I finally got the actual IPI and it is much better! a little bit bigger so the binos fit better
Coues79 Report post Posted October 9, 2007 Thanks for doing the field work and research for us Doug . I was searching for something other than the crooked horn system too. I have the same complaints; elastic stretching too far, adjusters slipping etc . I'm gonna give this system a shot and see how it works. Looks pretty nice. Especially if you have some expensive glass and have to go busting through some brush . It's nice to have them protected without having to pull them inside of a jacket.
