Natural Deer and Elk Bait

The recent summer rains brought these colorful fungi up from a stump in the front yard, along with a few ponderosa pine seedlings.

Wow the off season is way to long. Now we're looking at mushrooms :P

Good point, a couple of years ago i was chasing some trophy bulls -6A and caught em' eating shrooms. Turns out I went out and bought a book "national audubon society- pocket guide to familiar mushrooms".

 

I wanted to see what kinds they were and key in on it as food source. Elk (not sure about deer) will tear em' up. Glad to hear the 'high country' is getting enough rain to perpetuate the spores.

 

off 2 hunt the shrooms! Archery elk is 6 weeks away!

While up at Big Lake, my buddy and I located numerous species of mushrooms including these from the bolete family:
