Tines Report post Posted August 11, 2006 My brother bought a Ruger M77 in .308 and the trigger sucks! I'm not familiar with Ruger but do they all come @ like 15lbs? Kidding, not that much, but it's heavy. Anyone set their own or does it have to go to a gunsmith?

catclaw Report post Posted August 18, 2006 They suck, You are money ahead to buy a Timney or equivalent and just replace it. The Rugers are case hardened and if you grind more that a few thousanths off them, they will fail. Some guys have had success fixing them. I have seen a lot of them ruined by others trying- including a well reputed gunsmith.
Tines Report post Posted August 20, 2006 My brother spoke with a guy up north (white mountains) area and he said he can do it. When you mentioned it's case-hardened, does that mean you'd have to grind on it? This guy said there's a "screw-type" adjustment on the later models. I don't know. This is why I shoot Remington. cmc Report post Posted September 7, 2006 I would go with a Timney. I ordered one via www.brownells.com and had it installed in a matter of minuets. Hardest part is to set the safety... only file off what you need to pass... not a millimeter more. Minor clearing in the stock and I was done. Talk about a sweet setup. Awesome triggers and nice quality. cmc
