waterbuck97 Report post Posted August 11, 2006 Ive got a few questions about blind hunting and blinds in general. First off, can anyone recommend a decent ground blind that will fit two people for bow hunting? I saw one at Sportsmans that was about $120 I think it was Ameristep of something like that? Anybody have that blind? I want to stay in that price range. Next question is do you guys set up your blinds days in advance so the deer can get comfortable with it? Do you run the risk of somebody stealing the blind or messing with it? I know most decent hunters would not mess with it at all, I just dont want to get a new blind, set it up, come back a week later and have it gone, that would suck!! let me know please any comments would be appreciated. biggelkhunter Report post Posted August 11, 2006 Do not spend your money on a blind. spend the time and make a blind with the trees and rock that are in area that you are going to hunt. Deer and elk like this a lot more. JS
jamaro Report post Posted August 11, 2006 I have a brickhouse and I really like it... I like the fact that when I leave I don't leave a pile of dead brush.... that and it keeps your scent in... j-
bowhuntinmaniac Report post Posted August 11, 2006 I have a Double Bull and Ameristep blind. I have noticed that Coues tend to shy away from a blind that has just been setup. Turkeys and Coyotes dont see them and Elk and mule deer dont care about them. Also, if you plan to set the blind in an area easy accessible by people, expect it to disappear. I have lost blinds, had them slashed and stomped. The nice things about blinds is, they contain your scent and movement. You can sit in a nice lawn chair and read a book, take a nap, or whatever and not worry about the animals seeing you.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 11, 2006 One item to consider about blinds is the choice of material. Many with lots of polyester or nylon will reflect light and appear shiny. (The same sheen applies to some hunting clothes material) RR
