Gun Confiscation - How it will happen

This is how I see the systematic disarmament of America, without ever enforcing a gun ban.

They won't do it via confiscation. They know that would be too much too fast, and the push-back would be huge, maybe even a rebellion of sorts.

I talked with a friend today in the gun industry and his prediction is far more likely - a phased approach.

Phase I: They ban the sale of new "assault weapons" which will encompass not only those scary rifles with pistol grips, but probably pistols capable of holding a clip with more than 10 rounds. Existing weapons that meet the ban criteria are "grandfathered". This makes everyone think it's just a "common sense" measure.

Phase II: They will allow you to keep your "grandfathered" assault weapon, but you will have to register it, and pay a small fee - say $25 per gun per year. Person-to-person sales require the same form (4473) as FFL transfers. Again, people will say, big deal, what's $25 bucks, costs more to go to the movies, and hey, I have to register my car, why not my gun. Penalty for possession of a non-registered gun is a felony.

Phase III: Now they have your name and know exactly what guns you have. Tax increases to $500 per gun per year. You either pony up thousands, or forfeit your guns. You can't pretend you sold them, because of the Form 4473 (or equivalent) requirement.

They can continue on with this until every gun has been turned in, all without ever banning a single one. The only hold-outs are those willing to shoot it out, likely alone, or face massive jail time.

It will be slow and methodical, each step under the guise of reasonable, common sense safety measures. In the end, we'll be unarmed without ever having the chance to resist as a unified body.

Legislation, taxation, a methodical approach to turn you from a lion to a sheep.

Possible, but I see states succeeding before anything like that gets off the ground...As with the OBama care, the courts will be overloaded with lawsuits that will take years to iron out...That or who knows, maybe the US is due for another Civil War!

After banning sale of new assault weapons there will be regisration of existing ones. Then it would be easy to stop the private sale, and you could be held liable if the weapon had not been reported stolen. Also in the immediate future expect a national violence tax similar to what was recently passed in Illinois. Probably much more extensive and expensive.

There are far two many people in America with several "assault weapons" (I hate that term) hundreds of magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition, most if not all of these people's stuff is off the radar and I would bet many people will keep their mouths shut and not register a dang thing.

Man you guys give too much credit to "the other side" and must have a very low view of yourselves and other conservatives. If us gun owners are so weak and easily controlled, maybe we should give up our guns???

 

Point is, we will never be disarmed and quit living in fear of government and some liberal agendas. Fight back for heavens sake and control your own future. Assault rifle ban is not the end of the world as we know it.

After yesterdays speech by the NRA if you're not a member you should be !! It was great listening to someone tell it like it is....the honest to gods truth...

If they pass gun control laws I dont think they will care what we think , they could just say turn it in or face a felony , jail and big fines. Look at Canada.

U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade

 

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.

 

The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

 

On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States . The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.

 

The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth?

Obama and the truth have never met.

He is the most consummate liar there is.

What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.

 

This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

We are in for a tough fight on this. An emotional response to an emotional situation- ban the guns!

 

Ignore the violent entertainment our kids are fed on a constant basis- music, games, movies, and the trash they show and promote on network tv does nothing but confuse the young minds.

 

Forget that all religious connotation has been removed from most public instutions including schools. Unless taught at home, there is no right or wrong, good or evil being reinforced in these kids minds.

 

Ignore the fact that so many kids come from single parent homes or have no homes. The current role models- pop stars, rappers, movie stars, athletes are horrible examples for them. Our western liberal society has created untold numbers of these mentally disturbed time bombs just waiting for something to trigger them.

 

We have to be united and strong in this upcoming fight as our elected reps have unbelievable pressure on them to do something even if it won't cure the root cause - a lost generation of kids.

 

Lots of prayer, some common sense solutions, and a determined fight to keep our rights intact - stand strong!
