dzell Report post Posted December 17, 2012 I hunted Friday and Saturday in the rain and froze my butt off only seen one whitetail doe and seven mulie does those two days. This morning I left the house kinda late but went to a good spot close to home. I went for a short walk on the top of a big ridge glassing down the draws below. I looked for quite a while without seeing anything so I started walking the thick brushy hillside back to the truck when I cut a deer track. I followed the track silently till I got an idea of where the deer was heading then I hurried to cut him off. It didnt take long and there he was less then fifty yards away walking through the cedar and catclaws. I let him get on the other side of a big bush and pulled an arrow out of my quiver when I stepped around the bush he was staring at me in the middle of a bunch of catclaws. I waited till I lost patience and took a couple steps and it opened up a window I ranged him at 38yards took aim between his shoulder and neck and sent the arrow flying it hit him perfect dropped him rite thier he flopped down the hill about 5 yards I imediatly walked up and he was already dead the arrow broke his neck and cut a major artery I didnt even have to blood trail him it was awesome. Another exciting thing is I have trail cam pictures of this buck from a few days earlier.
Coach Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Nice job dzell, tracking a deer like that and getting in position for a shot is huge accomplishment, IMO. I hope you got some good pictures to add to your awesome story.
