ultramag Report post Posted December 17, 2012 This was opening day, This was Jays first buck. We were glassing an are early afternoon Jay says I have a buck!!! The buck was 608 yards, he was ready the let the lead fly but looking at the area the buck was in we knew we could get closer so we did at 260 yards this was a great shot when we arrived the buck was bedded and we couldn't tell where the deer body was so had to wait for him to stand, about 2 hours we waited, the sun was shining at a bad angle for us to see real well so I got up to move a little to get out of the sun, that's when I spotted the other buck. At the same time the buck stood up and Jay put a 1 shot dead in his tracks shot, I shot the other buck and we had a double. Jays buck went 95 The pack out was extreme, I spent lots of time at the gym prior to the hunt and so did everyone it still almost killed us. Great memory This was a buck we glassed up in a different area we hunted. We only caught a short glimpse of him while he stood up from his bed and bedded no sooner the we spotted him. But we knew he was a decent buck. We were running out of light and the buck was still bedded. I told Clint to shoot above him to get him to stand. So he did and it worked 1 shot at 450yards and Clint had his biggest buck at 104. A mile pack out in the dark again. This was Dave's first coues, we glassed this buck as he bedded down. Then we moved in to take the shot at 365 yards it was a chore for Dave to find him in the scope but once he did a one shot kill sealed the deal. This was another mile in the dark pack out. This was George first coues and it was beginners luck about 5 minutes of glassing he found this buck. And 1 shot at 300yrds and he got his first coues. This was the best hunt I have ever been on, If you would have told me that we would 5 for 5 I would have said BS

trophyhnter Report post Posted December 18, 2012 Great work! Great looking bucks! Funny how that works, when you are glassing and stocking deer it doesnt seen that far or that hard of a hike! Once the adrenaline rush wears off, the pictures are taken, and the sun is going down then the you can see the hike out for what it is! Makes for great stories around the campfire with some cold ones!
