AverageJoe Report post Posted December 12, 2012 I respectively disagree. Unions built this nation. Lessons learned with workers blood. Evan IAFF Local 3924 And now unions are destroying this country. Unions promote laziness among workers. They pay a lazy worker the same as a hard worker and do not recognize the hard worker in any way. If anything the unions get mad at the hard worker for making the lazy worker look bad. I speak from experience and that is the reason i am no longer in the union and never will be again!
DesertBull Report post Posted December 12, 2012 The law is to tell unions they cannot force a person to pay union dues as a condition of employment. AZ had the same rules. As an American you should have choice if you want to join.

Evan IAFF Local 3924 Right to work laws do not mean you can't join a union. It means you cannot be forced to in order to gain employment. Absolutely correct. Although these lame duck laws take away more than just forcing people to pay dues. The new Michigan bill says you must have 100% of all employees paying dues and 75% of those agree just to have a seat at the table, to bargain for working conditions and meet with management. This is only after a year long process of verification. I'm Proud to work in a 100% Union Fire Dept. here in Arizona! For example, being organized has given us a right to sit and discuss what type of equipment I wear on my back and what type of equipment I carry on my truck vs. letting my city manager and city council make the decisions for me. Cheap three bid procurement equipment kills folks in my profession. It's not always about rewarding a "lazy worker" or about "pay" A lot of the times it is about the things that keep us safe as the worker. As I said, I respectively disagree, I am more proud to be an american and have the right to an opinion. Happy Hunting!
Jimmyc Report post Posted December 12, 2012 Any of these posts about political ish, should not be on here. Unless it pertains to hunting. All posts like this do is devide hunters. If u want to be in a union join one. If you're in one, GREAT. If u don't like unions ur entitled to your opinion. But I would bet, mosy of the folks spewing their bs here have never been a part of a union. Jimmy IBEW Local 570. Good luck to all going out this Friday.
muleskinner Report post Posted December 12, 2012 I have been a part of a union in the past, although a very weak union with very little clout. However ,I detest the union mentality that says," if you cross the picket lines i have a right to do harm to you or your property". Unions have outlived their usefulness in my opinion in this country. I applaud the state of Michigan for making a decision based on the will of the people and not caving in to pressure from anyone, least of all the sorry excuse we have for a president. Lets hear it for states rights!

AZ's right to work laws have not stopped you from joining and supporting your union but no one should be forced to join just to have a job.
THE RIFLEMAN Report post Posted December 12, 2012 Fur trappers , miners and farmers built this nation long before unions were created! Unions are a path to Socialistic government... Unions are always the product of big city's and overpopulated states that have no natural resources and must base their economy/trade/manufacturing on areas that do actually produce ...... Unions are just another way of the elitists/politicians to control the common man!
