KiLLAcOuEs Report post Posted December 7, 2012 ARCHERY IS GOING TO SUCK IN THE TUCSON MOUNTAINS!!!!! THANKS TO THE VERY VAGUE AND STUPID RESTRICTIONS BY THIS GAME AND FISH MAP!!!!! THIS MAP DOESN'T GIVE DISTANCES WHERE EXACTLY THE BOUNDARIES END, ROADS THAT ARE AFFECTED!!! WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOYCOTT!!!!!!! IF THE dang HIKERS AND MOUNTAIN BIKERS CAN ENJOY THESE RESTRICTED AREAS WHY CANT I !!!!! THEY SURE ARE MAKING IT HARDER AND HARDER FOR THE HUNTERS AND TAKING AWAY OUR ACCESS TO LAND AND HUNTING AREAS!!!
4Falls Report post Posted December 8, 2012 You hit the nail on the head. All these restrictions at aimed soully at hunters. The vaguer the better in their eyes. Easier to enforce. Like the travel mgmnt plans. Good luck.
Lucafu1 Report post Posted December 24, 2013 i have a question about the parking locations, is that the only spots for us to park or can we park anywhere there is parking? ive been studying the maps and trying to find a spot that looks good and where i hopefully wont run into any hikers, bikers, or hippies. ive never been there so im probably in for a good time. coatimundi01 Report post Posted December 24, 2013 This is my first year hunting TMP, and really the only thing that really irks me is the gigantic areas around Old Tucson. That's a huge area to cut off. I glassed a decent fork or a little 3x3 from way off with about a dozen does/fawns and I could see they were right on the fence that says no hunting! These deer are no dummies, lol. I've been there 3 times since last wed and have seen over 40 deer, but really only a few 2x1, a spike, and that bigger buck I couldn't make out from afar. I've put a couple stalks on and have closed to about 75-80yds but still too far for me... Wed and Friday the hunter traffic was low, it was nice. Figured it would be good today too. Wrong lots of hunters. I guess everybody has Xmas week off and is hunting. We did see one little buck today though. Got spooked and headed for the houses and the no hunting zone... Grrr... Guest 300ultramag. Report post Posted December 24, 2013 my .2 cents is.. we as hunters have fees, licenses and permits that grant us access and generates revenue to these areas. Any turd can drive and mtn bike all day without restrictions these people do not contribute in any way other than leaving there trash and beer bottls ZERO revenue towards conservation but WE get nudged out. They need to get an OHV permit on all those silly little mtn bikes and the hikers too make money off the guys!!!!!!!!!!!and let us have access to these areas. az_shooter Report post Posted December 24, 2013 What a load of crap, but you never know bud, this could be a blessing in disguise. You might find some new country and find yourself a new favorite honey hole. Good luck.
MattMan Report post Posted December 24, 2013 Shame on G&F for trying to manage a basically urbanized area for mixed use. They could have just closed the whole area to eliminate any confusion... And not passed the law that areas can only be closed or managed specifically for hunting by G&F, effectively opening MANY acres of land to hunting which were previously closed by local or municipal ordinances. bowfishAZ Report post Posted December 24, 2013 Boycott?? Boycott what??? Ill agree, there are some areas closed to hunting in TMP that are big areas without any houses near that I don't understand why they closed it.. BUT.. The residents of the Tucson Mountains that deal with road hunters, trespassers etc are the ones who are complaining rightfully and getting these areas shut down... Don't bash the game and fish until you have an understanding of why... Now if you wanted to start a petition to open the Saguaro National Monument to archery only deer hunting, Id support that!!

mattys281 Report post Posted December 26, 2013 That's always been the hardest part of hunting public land: you have to deal with the public.
Scooter Report post Posted December 26, 2013 />Now if you wanted to start a petition to open the Saguaro National Monument to archery only deer hunting, Id support that!! Same with Coronado National Memorial... There's literally nothing out there that could even remotely be dangerous to allow archery and possibly shotgun and muzzleloader hunters ^this. Especially Saguaro NP East. There's got to me some monster couesies in there...
