Coach Report post Posted November 30, 2012 What a great year. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to hunt this amazing state with friends and family. Here's the year in pictures... It started off Jan 1, with my oldest son Matt and I on an archery Javi hunt (my tag)... Next is the youth Javi hunt. We have my 3 sons, Matt, Nick and Josh, My frieind, Mark's daughter Alana, and my other friend Bryan's daughter Monica to find pigs for. First is Matt... then Alana... then Nick... ... and within minutes, Monica... My youngest son Josh gets a chance just after completing his AZ Hunter's ed course, but he's spent a lot of time shooting and learning from his older brothers. His first Javi... Now it's turkey time. Josh gets "first dibs" since he just turned 10. Then Nick, the next day... Now it's baseball, football time, fast-forward to the fall. Time for deer and elk. We have Deer tags in 27 and cow elk tags in unit 1. Matt draws first blood... Nick gets an elk... Matt gets an elk... The Jones Boys Meat Pole... Dad gets to hunt the strip... You just can't ask for a better year of hunting in Arizona.

Coach Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Bigorange, it will happen so fast you won't even believe it. One day you are trying to teach them some little things, the next, they're wearing your old boots, the next, they're whispering in your ear some of the old advice you may have already forgotten and teaching you some new things. Coach Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Here's Matt when he was 5. He was already a hunter then. Now he's almost 16. Time goes by so fast you won't even believe it. Take pictures, write down stories. Take every second you have with them as if it were a golden grain of sand. At the end of each day, take the time to remember the good and bad, and just think about both.

standman Report post Posted December 2, 2012 That is one awesome year for you and your family Jason. Doesn't get any better than that. Hope you have enough freezer space. Lol. On another note, Mark and I just got back to our motel room in Portal, Az after a long pack out of my buck I killed tonight right at dark. Brian

Coach Report post Posted December 7, 2012 If the Myan calendar doesn't sweep us all away, or a meteorite, Matt and I will be hunting 23 archery, Nick has 23 youth javi and Josh has 24A/24B javi. Matt has 3A/C youth turkey tags while his brothers have 1/27 youth tags. If all those kiddos kill out, I might get to hunt turkeys for the first time in close to a decade. Late unit 1 in May.... I want to do it with a bow, but had better bring napalm....
