huntermncb Report post Posted November 30, 2012 To me i see no point in shooting small calibers after seeing roughly 15 animals fall to a 300 grain bullet there is no looing back

Antmo23 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Holy crap! WAY too big for the likes of me. I'll stick with my measly little 300wm and hope it has enough muscle for the coues I hunt with it... 300 grains? Really?!? No thank you. I'm flinching just thinking about shooting it. To each their own I guess...

Antmo23 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 id put money on it that my guns recoils have of your 300 winnie. and i shoot plenty of coues deer with a 300 grain bullet Ok, but how much does it weight? And does it have a muzzle break? I know it has way more power at long ranges, wind bucking ability, etc, etc, etc, but at what cost? Extra weight and an ungodly roar? No thank you. if it works for you, cool. But from what I'm hearing, and with my experiences shooting big guns, they don't work for me.

sjvcon Report post Posted December 1, 2012 Another thing I'd advise against is having a "dedicated elk" gun......how often do you get drawn for elk in AZ?.....Not very often. Get something you can shoot and shoot lots. A 7mm or a 300WM will kill anything the western US has to offer...... Yeah...ya kinda gotta leave the state for elk...very sad.
