cavecreekfisher Report post Posted November 29, 2012 I was bumming after finding out that the one deer I was trying to close the deal on had been harvested by another hunter. I stayed in that area because there was a doe and a little forkie that were doing their rutting "business", so I was thinking a bigger buck would catch the scent in the wind. Monday morning I located this buck by hearing his antlers scraping the oak brush but never saw him. I spooked his does and they headed out. I thought I had lost them and loaded up my truck and started heading back to the main road. Our paths thankfully crossed on the way out, a very pleasant surprises and saw this buck tailing his ladies. It was a 70 yard shot, quartering away, lined up the shot and let er rip. I started looking for blood and heard a truck coming down the road. I wanted to ask this truck if he saw a buck cross the road ahead of him. Turns out, it was Tim from D Adams camp, he actually found the deer after we were looking for blood. The buck piled up approx 40 yards from where he was shot, Tim was kind enough to stick around and shoot some pics and get the buck in the back of the truck after being gutted. All and all, this trip was awesome from day one and was able to catch a few Lee's Ferry trout on the way back to town.
