Camera Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Looking for some updated input/recommendations for a couple of trail cameras. I currently have an old Moultrie (takes a box of C batteries to crank her up) that I love and works great. With that said, I want something smaller that will still get me good battery life (a couple of months).

I have read reviews and am looking at the Coverts that Amanda sells on the site. I am wanting to stay under $130 bucks per camera if I can...but will go up to $150 if its really worth it.

Any opinions with information to your camera type (Covert, Cuddeback, Moultrie, etc.), battery life, effective range, and any issues would be very helpful!

Thank you in advance

I have been using the little covert CA ones with pretty good success. I got one I left out that took a little over 3800 pics. Not sure if the batteries died but the card got full is why it quit taking pics. Night pics are the big factor in battery life seems to me. The CA's run off just 4 double A's. So that is a huge plus for them!

I've been using the moultrie M-80s. They are real small and have great pics. The night pics are the best

Never any white outs and it gets a great range; I never have any night pics where I can't tell what the animal is or what kinda buck it is. They have great battery life, run off of 8 AAs but can also run off of 6 if need be. If you look on amazon you can find them around your price range of $130, I picked mine up at $122. Though I am not sure how they compare to the coverts. I've heard great things about the coverts and might pick up a CA4 in the near future.

The covert Amanda sells is a great little camera, lightweight and the batteries last a really long time. I use the spypoint tiny camera more than any other because I bought quite a few of them at a good price. The spypoint tiny has the best aiming system and is easier to use than pretty much any others I have used. However, I wish I had more of the coverts as well due to the ability to use the metal lock box that is available. Both of these cameras take great pics and batteries will last for months.

Amanda: That's the exact camera that I have been looking at...

Becker: I noticed in your trail camera pics of your monster buck that you were using a covert. Congrats on a once-in-a-lifetime trophy...amazing deer

Coueshunter: I'll take a closer look at that moultrie
