CouesWhitetail Report post Posted November 26, 2012 I spent the weekend down in the 36's helping at the SCI youth deer camp. What a great event this is! They provide food and advice and guides if they have them available. I had the pleasure of helping my friend Bonnie's daughter Annie and her friend Makayla in their quest to get a deer or a javelina (or both!). Unfortunately Annie didn't get a javelina or deer, but Makayla got both and several other kids scored as well. Many thanks to SCI for hosting the event and working hard to make sure everyone had a great time. The food was excellent and everyone was very helpful. here are a few pics I took.....if you attended the event as well, please feel free to post more pics! Many thanks to Gabe and Adam who helped Makayla and Annie! There were many other forum members there in camp helping or there with their kids hunting and it was great seeing you all! Zacharry's first coues! my little camp neighbor with his new panda hat....his sister had a tag and was hunting: a classic from Amado AZ....it's for sale now.... Annie and Makayla hiking out from a morning of glassing Gabe Paz helped Makayla get her buck the first day! Annie and Makayla

AZbowhntr Report post Posted November 27, 2012 Looks like a fun time. Amanda, I wish I knew you were there. I was down scouting and drove right by there and almost stopped. I would have for sure if I had known. It sounds like a lot of the kids did pretty well.

If you had stopped in the middle of the day we probably would have been there since it was so darn hot that weekend!!

matt burke Report post Posted November 29, 2012 I totally agree, SCI and AZGFD know how to get it going. I was a little skeptic at first because it felt like folks were being secretive. Fortunately, it was in my head (I have crowd issue's from PTSD). Luckily a dedicated SCI member (USMC vet) picked enough info from me to realize I needed help. After Bobby hooked us up with Jimmy and Shawn...then left us all in the dark (smiling) we headed towards a new location that our guides had never hunted before, but their experienced prevailed and my daughter took this nice 3x4 Coues as her 1st big game.
