kaibabkiller Report post Posted November 26, 2012 Day 1 and 2 were spent hunting huge frozen muskegs, passing on multiple bucks and one small bull. Day 3 my wife (Amanda) and I found ourselves on the edge of one of these muskegs glassing, waiting for one of these Monarchs to pop out from the bush to feed. At about 4 pm I heard Amanda hissing at me to get my attention. As I made my way to her she whispered "Buck". I put my 15's on the deer making mental notes, "wider than his ears and about 12 inch G2's" shooter!! I ranged the buck at 405 yds., got set up, made elevation adjustments, found his front shoulder and squeezed. I heard the 180 gr. VLD hit its mark, the buck dropped his rear end, took 5 steps and fell over!! Day 4 we glassed a solid 45 inch bull from about 2 miles away, after putting him to bed we made our move. After 3 failed attempts to push the bull from his bed into a clear cut and muskeg we figured to start heading back to town. On our way we stopped at one last spot to check, just as Chad was telling us how much traffic this area got I spotted a HUGE black body just on the edge of the swamp!! I threw my binos up and saw a massive body bull with great pans! I then threw my pack down to get ready as Chad ranged the bull at 725 yds., we made the elevation adjustments and I went to work!! First shot HIT! "reload, reload"! Second shot HIT!! the bull went down, I got up hugged my wife and Chad said, "He's back up". "Holy $h!%" I thought! Got set up again, aimed dead center of shoulder instead of the crease. "Relax, relax, squeeze" BOOM, dropped him!! All I can say is I was on cloud 9. I've been dreaming of hunting moose since age 5 and finally I got my chance!! Special thanks to my friend Chad "Savage" Lenz for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime!!
