iBowAZ Report post Posted November 29, 2012 Four of us hunted eight of the 10 days and saw a bunch of does and five bucks: 1 small spike, 2 2x2's, 1 3x4 and 1 4x4. A buddy of mine took one of the 2x2's on the 4 day and I took the 4x4 on the last day of the hunt. We did a lot of hiking for good vantage points and glassed, glassed, glassed. Pictures? Pictures and story are up in a new post.

Norteno Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Why do people put in for these hunts? I don't feel sorry for you. People put in for these hunts because hunting and not harvesting is better than not hunting at all. Are you really a hunter if you don't draw for 3 years. azoutlaw Report post Posted November 30, 2012 So if you don't get drawn for a few years your not a hunter? I'd rather go help a friend on a quality hunt than hunt my butt off in a garbage unit to shoot a dink buck. That's just me. I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go around
Antmo23 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Does that mean I'm not an elk hunter anymore cuz I haven't been drawn since 2010? The way I see it, I'm a hunter weather I go hunting every year or not. And working my butt off in a "garbage" unit and taking home a dink is still way, WAY better than sitting at home staring at an empty freezer. Heck, my hunt this year was over in the first 10 minutes, so I stayed and carried out my cousins buck because I didn't hurt as much as I wanted, lol. Call me crazy, but humping the hills for days on end and taking home a spike of a forky that I shot on the last day to me is a great hunt and a job well done. Thats just me though and it does take all kinds to make the world go round...
Nontypical183 Report post Posted December 1, 2012 My wife had 24b this year and she had two opportunities to shoot bucks that were bigger than anything i had killed just cause you dont see deer everyday or a big buck everyday doesnt make it a trash unit you get out what you put in there are trophy class animals all throughout the state do you think on a strip tag you see giant bucks everyday negative spend ur time in the binos and not riding the atv and the odds get raised we went to the same spot everyday for 5the days we were there and seen deer everyday watched people through my binos drive right pass deer never even knew they were there. azoutlaw Report post Posted December 4, 2012 That was directed towards all the guys that get on here and complain about not finding deer in units that suck and have left over tags.
Antmo23 Report post Posted December 4, 2012 Thanks for clearing that up. I've gone on a few left over hunts and I've come home with tag soup, but I still a had a blast! It doesn't matter if it's a leftover tag in a unit nobody wanted, it's a golden ticket to go chase deer in the beautiful wilds of Arizona. Great times with good people in front of a campfire, that's what it's all about...
