Guest Ernesto C Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I saw an ad today on the news paper from the Animal Defense League. They try to make this ad like an AZ.G.and F. ad also they say that the Az Comission is the rigth path trying to stop Lion hunting in Az. They(animal defense league) are inviting all the animal right activis to the Az.Game and Fish comission meeting this Saturday April 17 in Phoenix. They are providing people with email addres and letters so they can send it to the Az.Game and Fish to stop Lion hunting. What a Joke the only ones trying to stop Lion hunting here are them not the Az.Game and Fish. And the only ones that [/b]can stop them are us the hunters so if it is possible for you to show up to the commision meeting please do so and speak up. Ernesto C. Diamondbackaz Report post Posted April 15, 2004 The ad at http://www.adlaz.org/AZad4-11quark4.pdf does not say stop lion hunting , but it says to regulate it to certain times with limits. I am certainly not advocating the animal defense league here, but it is important to know where they actually stand. Now it is true that they may be using this as a first step as an out right ban. I agree you EC, stand up and let your position be heard, as many hunters don't become politically active until it's to late//
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted April 16, 2004 I saw that ad and you are right that they are not asking for an end to lion hunting in that ad. However, I imagine that the ultimate wish of the Animal Defense league is to end hunting for lions and probably all animals. I scanned the ad that ran in yesterday's AZ Republic. Here it is for those of you who haven't seen it. I encourage all hunters who can to attend that meeting in Phx on Sat. APRIL 17TH COMMISSION MEETING ON SATURDAY at the FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE LODGE, 12851 N 19TH AVE. PHX, AT 9AM .
coues addict Report post Posted April 16, 2004 Hey Everyone I don`t think I am going to be at the meeting on the 17th, but, I would if I could. I am sure some of you have heard me say this before, but, We have to fight for our rights to hunt. I live in California, and we had a vote several years back to either keep Mountain lion hunting or to ban it here in Ca. It was voted by the public to ban lion hunting. In my opinion, make no mistake, the anti`s want to ban Lion hunting, and then if they force an election and that gets banned, they will go after some other species. My state is all screwed up and I hate to see Az. go the way of Ca. I urge all of You that can to attend the meeting or call some friends that can go and voice Your opinion`s. You really don`t know what you`ve got till its gone. Thats my 2 cents worth! Thanks Coues Addict
coueshunter Report post Posted April 17, 2004 I went to the meeting today and was proud to see tons of hunters there. The room was filled with hunters and the local outdoor radio host was there passing out pro-hunter t-shirts that everyone pulled on over their shirts so it was a sea of white pro-hunters filling the seats. I would bet that 80% of the people there were pro-hunter. I think we might have won this one outright........Thanks to everyone supporting this issue.....................Allen Taylor...... coues addict Report post Posted April 18, 2004 coueshunter Hey Allen, I am glad you went to the meeting today. I hope all you guys made a differance. I could not make it, I have been putting in to many hours at work and just to far to drive and just way to tired. I want to thank you for going and representing some of us who couldn`t go. Please keep fighting the anti`s and maybe someday I can legally bring a lion back to Ca. with me. Thanks again Coues Addict
Guest Ernesto C Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Thanks Allen for the info. And for every body else don't forget that you still can raise your opinion by faxing or emailing your support to the lion hunts and the Game and fish. Thanks, Blessings. Ernesto C. az4life Report post Posted April 19, 2004 (edited) I would agree with the sentiment of others that the goal of the ban on mtn lion hunting kittens and females with kittens is just the tip of the iceberg. The Anti hunting looneys just cannot see that controlled, regulated hunting is the best way to maintain an equitable balance in human / lion co-existence. Their dirty lie is to make the general population believe hunters go out to kill little cudly kittens and "females" that are simply trying to take care of their families. (what a crock) Do any of you know of a hunter who would go out with a lion tag and shoot a kitten? In California, about 6 months ago, many of you may have read an instance of a mtn lion attacking a woman mtn biker. Several Other bikers were barely able to save her from a lion that was pulling her into the brush with a death grip on her face. When the game officers went to look for the lion (probably to see if it was hurt by the woman) they discovered the remains of another mtn biker apparently killed by a lion within the past couple of weeks. With a ban on hunting these predators, they have and will continue to hunt humans when their paths cross. Speaking from experience, I know what it is like to have one of these cats come at you with dinner on his mind! It is not fun, and hearing the store above brought it back to me like it was yesterday. I say that regulations regarding the hunting these animals like most other species is best left to the qualified and capable hands of the AZ Game and Fish experts. Cannot think of too many (1 or 2) cases of death or injury from lions here in our state and I believe the current proper management is the #1 proven tool . We responsible hunters need to keep those tree hugging peta idiots in their place, but I think california is too full of them so now they are moving here.
