firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Spent the last few days hunting with Phil and his daughter Jaycie looking for a couple bucks on left over tags. The weekend was spent with horrible weather, but we stuck it out and managed to find a few bucks that gave Phil and Jaycie the slip. On our last full day of hunting I was on the hill texting my wife and she was telling me that if we didn't find the big buck we have been looking for, atleast come home with some meat! Being a newly wed, I gladly listened. When Phil and I got to his Prowler, his hunting buddy Jim had a small 3x3 glassed up. I looked at him for a second through the spotting scope and decided I better listen to my wife and kill him. Phil and I got as close as we could, and after a couple of shots, the buck was down. Not much for horns, but he'll eat well and the wife is happy. Little buck meat tastes better then tag soup!

Antmo23 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Heck yeah, meat is meat. I don't like coming home empty handed and no matter how long you cook that tag, it never gets tender...

Elkhunter1 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 There is nothing wrong with that buck. You fulfilled both of your obligations; a filled tag AND you made your wife "happy, happy, happy!"

cramerhunts Report post Posted November 16, 2012 Congratulations again on a well deserved buck Casey. We put the time in and it just didn't work out this time on a big buck and the terrible weather didn't help one bit. It was fun trying to put Jaycie on her first coues and I'm sure we will get it done next time. Good food, good camp, good country, and good company sure made for a good time. We had the pleasure of having rut, Chef, So I Hunt, and friend Keith in camp hunting and glassing with us which more then made up for the crummy weather.
