Rain in 6A

Recommended Posts

Hey does anyone know how much rain 6A south has got in the past week? I am planning on going up there this weekend to do some scouting and was wondering how muddy it was going to be. Any info would be nice! Chris

we have had quite a bit of rain in camp verde recently, total of about 3" in july, and most of that in the last two weeks. anyway, it will be muddy in spots, but i bet you will be ok depending on where you go. good luck.

5.4" for the month of July at the airport in Tucson which is roughly 3" above our avg for the month of July. And where i live in Marana I know for fact we got more than that as a friend emptied the rain guage last friday with 1.5" for that day and the next day dumped 3.5" out.

I might see ya up there. My little cousin drew a jr. tag up there, and I'm his lucky guide. ;) So if you see a lifted red/orange chevy with the CWT sticker on the rear window stuck, don't laugh too loud as you drive by! :P

It looks like there will be more than a few CWT.com members in 6A this weekend!!

I leave noon Friday  !!

We will be camped at the lake mary rd and 229 and we will be in my uncles 97 F150 ext-cab tan pick up.

Any recommendations on the fishing in the area? Should I have bought the trout stamp?

Honk if you see us!

I know that Flag. got hammered last weekend. I was driving back into town for some KFC for dinner to take back to camp about 8 or 9 at night. My windshield wipers couldn't keep up with the rain. At one point the entire street for about two miles was solid water from curb to curb. I was second guessing my new intake through some of those puddles! Everything is starting to green up, and I hope the water holes atleast have some water in them. This weekend we might have two camps up near Apache Maide Mt. I will be in a wall tent as close to the mountain as possible, and the toy hauler (if they come) will be closer to the highway incase the rain hits real hard.

I don't know about the fishing, heck it's scouting season boy! I guess you could hit up Lake Mary, but that's a little drive from 6A.

Josh, thanks again!

for those who are a little more computer savy, here is the website I get my weather from:

http://gacc.nifc.gov/swcc/predictive/weather/weather.htm

This is the Southwest Wildland Fire website. It has links to all of the RAWS (remote weather stations), satelite loops, and forecasts.

If you know your way around a map you might be able to find some RAWS stations near where you hunt.

Hey MORE D, I think I saw you as I was leaving this afternoon. My wife's weekends are Wed. , Thurs, and Fri. so we had to bug out Friday afternoon. I think it was you on the north side of 229 east of the power lines at about 2:00 pm. Good luck!

Yes that was us! We had planned on camping on 229 east of the the power lines but my wifes "city slicker" Armada doesn't do well in the mud so we ended up camping west of the power lines.

I think you saw my uncle and aunt waiting for me and my family. The original plan was going to be my uncle and I only but at the last moment my aunt, my wife and 2 year old went along. We had a great time!!!! We ended up getting there at 5-5:30pm Friday.

How was the rain?

My uncle arrived earlier than us . He came up from Camp verde and turned north to Lake mary road from Clints well at 7:30am Friday and he said it started to rain for 5 hours strait!

I sure was busy this weekend up there with the bow shoot and all.

My uncle and I drew Bull muzzel loader tags for the Nov hunt. We will be(hopfully) camped on the 229 just as you come from Lake mary road and soon you start the first small down hill, we will be on your right about a hundred yards. I think you will know what I am talking about. We should be a big group, all the family members are planning on coming out to help as pack mules  .

Stop on by to say hi or if you need anything!

I am getting long winded here but we are going to try and head up again around the 2 or 3rd week of Sept to go scouting again but with deer tag and bow in hand. Some time BEFORE the archery Elk starts. What did you draw??
