Looks like it's going to be a cold one.

Recommended Posts

Looks like there's a good chance it's going to be a bit chilly for this weekends opener. Just curious how some of you feel about maybe having cold, wet windy weather for this weekends hunt. You guys think this weather is going to get the deer up and moving or will it keep them down? Either way I'm beyond excited! Just 3 more days left and I'll be chasing coues!

As long as it's not gusting like it was last year...that made things a little difficult. At least where I was.

Good luck to all. Still a few more weeks until I get to get out there. :D

Cooler is a PLUS!!! A little rain never hurts. Always find deer up and moving as soon as the rain stops. WIND oh I loath the wind but remember it can concentrate the deer into little pockets. Makes it difficult to find them in the bottoms of draws but can really work to your advantage!

For the area I'm hunting the forcast for wind doesn't look too good. 23 mph on Friday and 17 mph on Saturday. Hope this changes a bit between now and Friday. Wind eats my eyes up like no other. 1 hour in the wind and my eyes are torn up.

Wind can be your friend for finding deer (maybe not for shooting). I've found a lot of deer on the lee-side of hills in 20+ mph wind. Just standing around, out of the wind. I hate the wind...makes my eyes water bad, but can be used to your advantage.

Most of the time nasty weather means it's easier to know when the deer are going to start feeding and makes it easier to locate bedded bucks.

On very windy days, there's a tremendous amount of activity going on at the last 30 minutes of light when the wind starts to die down, it's a hunter's dream.

Last year that nasty system and horrible winds that one night were terrible. This year I have high hopes- it sure beats the heck out of the previous couple years where it has been 10 degrees above average at 90+ and the deer have been lethargic in the day time, feeding often at night. Hoping to get my first coues- GO 32!
