DotShot Report post Posted November 2, 2012 I just purchased a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm (30mm tube) for my Remington 700 XCR chambered in 300 WSM. I already have Leupold standard 2 piece mounts on the rifle with a Leupold VXII 4-12x40 (1" tube) so i'll need to change out the rings. My question is, will i need to get the Standard High rings or will the Standard medium rings work? If anyone has any experience with this type of setup I'd really like your input. willhunt4coues Report post Posted November 2, 2012 I have both the Nightforce and Valdada rings. The Valdada will only fit on a picatinny (sp) base. They are both VERY strong and VERY reliable. I have the VERY lows on both because I have a Picatinny rails on all my rifles (which raise the scope up about 1/4" and both my scopes are 50 objective. Medium on the 50 should be fine and Low on the 40 should work. The best thing is to get them from somewhere that you can take them back if they don't work. Most stores will allow you to do this. JUST make sure they have all sizes in stock. GOOD luck
