yumabowhunter Report post Posted November 2, 2012 Me and 3 buddies just returned from a deer hunt in central Colorado. It was warm and the deer were still up high so we went up to join them. It was some of the biggest and prettiest county I've hunted in. Even when you feel like you're in shape there's a big difference between the thick air here at sea level in Yuma and the thin air of Colorado. We backpacked into the country we wanted to hunt and setup camp at 10,800 feet. We camped on top of a long mountain range so that we could be glassing down the canyons at first light. Camp was in that little saddle I glassed up this buck bedded at sunup one morning. Of course he was in the very bottom of the canyon. We boned him out and put him in 2 packs. 5 hours later we were back at camp. It was a great hunt. We ended up going 4 for 4 on this trip.
reganranch Report post Posted November 2, 2012 Hey Mitch great looking buck man! Congrats on the success! I'm cody's buddy he was helping out in 32 on Tuesday. Good luck on you guy's bivy whitetail hunt, and the moon should be in you guy's favor here in a couple weeks.
Snapshot Report post Posted November 2, 2012 What a super buck, in some great looking country. I must admit that I am envious. My bad back just can't handle the heavy backpacking anymore. As much as I would love to do it. Were you seeing any elk up high.?
