oz31p Report post Posted October 30, 2012 Hes not a member so ill talk the story for him Well after filling an archery tag during August and dontating my 21 oct rifle tag my hunting partner still had his hunt. I felt that we had our area pretty well scout as he saw a few bucks during the archeey season and i had seen a few diferant bucks. Thw sunday before his hunt we made one more scouting day trip. We checked our normaly productive areas. At first light we were at our first glassing point is where i filled my 2011 rifle tag. We could not find any thing. We we turned back and when to glass the hill i had killed my 2012 aug archery coues. The deer i killed was with a fork and a huge 3x3. Well about an hour in we spotted them both together bedded about 100yards from where i killed mine. we were pumped. So we called it a day. Opening day justin had the fork and big buck in the same saddle for about 30 seconds before he crested the ridge. But about 10 minutes later he glassed a hunter walking that ridgeline right thru where the bucks had just crossed. He waited he rest of the day for him and he never came back. And he did not see any other bucks. Day two. I arrived in camp at 530. We made our way out to the same glassing spot looking for the big buck. Untill 11ish when i glassed to buck 1200yards down the ridge. He wanted the bigger of the group so we moved in on them. We used a small secondary ridge to block our approach. We crested the small ridge 250 yards from where we last saw the bucks. We glassed and glassed but there were a few thick spots we just could not see into. After 40 mins we decided we'd wait them out. So i layed down to take a quick nap. As soon as i drifted off i began getting hit by small rocks and i could hear"hey, hey, get up, i got them, there up." So we switch spots and i got behind my 15s while he got ready to shoot. We watched them polish there antlers for a min or so when they put alittle space between them i get justin the green light and he droped in his tracks. 244y. He was shocked that he droped him and asked "are you sure" to which i replyed " ya, dead, feet in the air, im sure.!". Just had about a mile pack out round trip and he packed in out whole. For his first deer hes still damm exited.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted October 30, 2012 That's very cool. There's nothing like watching someone, especially someone of significance kill their first deer. I don't think I have ever been more excited in my life then when my little brother killed his first deer!
