dead nutz Report post Posted October 29, 2012 Met down south in Tucson with my good friend Carl from team young Gunz to head down to 34a for my opening day whitetail hunt! started off that morning early on our glassin hill was a rough morning only glassed up a couple of does and spikey. We proceeded to walk what felt like 100 miles up and down rock filled over grown weed filled ankle braking mountains. With nothing moving we made our way back to camp to refuel and come up with an afternoon plan. We headed to another hill for the afternoon and within 30 minutes Carl had spotted a shooter buck!!we had to run down the mountain we just spent 35 minutes hiking up...of course.we got down the hill and jumped n the ranger and drove a couple miles around the back side of the hill and after 10 minutes Carl had him again we watched him for two minutes again and he went right back over the other side again...!! Well we decided there was only 15 minutes left of daylight we would drive back and find him and bed him. When we got back to the other side we found him in the same spot he was just roaming that 50 foot of real estate on top of the mountain. We were sitting there watching this monster when I asked Carl to range him and he said he was 800 yards away!! Well I said if you can get me to 600 yards I can take him Carl looked at me and said let's try well we found the only semi flat open area to shoot from at 595 yards with about 2 minutes of light left I got prone and found him in my sights dialed up my 308 to 595 yards and when he came out behind a little mesquite I touched off what felt like forever I got back on scope just in time to see him jump Carl yells out he's dead he ran 20 feet and pulled up!!!! We looked at each other in disbelief after chasing this thing around a mountain for a couple hours and then taking him was unbelievable. Carl took some land marks in and we headed up the mountain what was 600 yards as a crow flies was more like a mile by game trails. Well some how Carl took us right to that deer in the dark and when we got there we were in shock he was much bigger than we thought!! After a few pics and a lot of celebrating we gutted that monster and we threw the biggest bodied whitetail deer in Carl's eberlestock pack some how and he carried this deer all the way down the mountain when we got to the bottom and back to camp Carl got really sick he was tossing his cookies I think he under estimated the dize of the deer.all in all it was an amazing hunt with a great friend and hunter. P.s. we went straight to wellers can't wait my first trophy coues.

YOUNGGUNZ Report post Posted October 30, 2012 Scotty, I had an unbelievable time this weekend (minus the dehydration). I’m still replaying the final three hours of the hunt in my head and I’m still in disbelief. Between you making the best shot I’ve seen in those conditions, walking right to him on a giant mountain with waist high grass in the pitch black, to the miserable pack out, it’s all part of the story. I can’t wait to spend some time trying to top it. Here are a couple more pictures. Congratulations my man!
