willhunt4coues Report post Posted October 26, 2012 Same thing as if you were walking down the street with a gun just carrying it not waving it around and the police get calls about it that you are walking down the street with a gun. When they show up they ask to see some identification. Technically speaking there has been no felony and there is no reason to believe a felony has been committed then you do not have to show them your ID. They say it is to confirm you are legal to carry but in that case they would check everyone walking down the road. It is OUR right to carry and it is our duty to advise if asked but do not have to always agree with procedures the officers THINK they know. Lots of times they are trying to trick you. I have seen way too many videos where the civilian stood up for his rights and never gave in. The officers have no right but to let you walk if a crime has not been committed or believe one is going to be committed.
willhunt4coues Report post Posted October 26, 2012 I can't speak to the legality of the search, but I have been in vehicles at least 3 times where the Maricopa County Sheriffs have pulled us over and run the numbers on every handgun in the truck. This includes ones in cases and even suitcases. We've never objected because we've always been in the wrong traffic wise (rolling through stop signs or going 20+ over). We always were "yes sir, no sir" with them and they let us go every time with verbal warnings. Long ago I stopped trying to "protect my rights" when dealing with LEOs because I always lost that battle; even when I was right and they were wrong. Now I'm just respectful and go along with whatever they say. I truly believe that being passive has gotten us out of some pretty hefty fines. I also believe the cops are doing it for their own safety and to get stolen guns off the street. I don't believe any data is being recorded and databased so I just go with it. It's not right, but it's how the world works. And being passive will probably save you time, money, and headaches. Just my 2 cents... The problem with this is there are corrupt cops out there (not all but 1 in a 100) and those guys that say ya to a search because they have nothing to hide are those guys that the cop pulls out a bag of coke or whatever to frame you . Then when you get to court and say that was not mine. Who is the court going to believe you or the officer? My brother in law works for one of the best firms in Arizona and stated that if an officer EVER wants to search your vehicle tell him no. If he has to get a warrant thats fine then back up will be there too. The more cops that are there the LESS likely ONE cop could frame you. But half the time they let you go. firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted October 26, 2012 It doesn't put anything on file. Your name is never associated, a check only is to see if its a stolen gun.
Snapshot Report post Posted October 26, 2012 for the few self-righteous know it all....., go take a 4th amendment constitutional law class sometime then come back and spout the same know it all c@#$. Here is a good place to start http://leotraining.com/ Explain why people are being self righteous? Are we self righteous because we want to stand up for our rights, and don't like LEO's invading our personal space and freedoms. Or are you a LEO, and simply find certain comments offensive.? Self righteousness keeps us from becoming "Sheeple"

muleskinner Report post Posted October 26, 2012 Is it just me, or is there an element out there that wants to portray people who stand up for their rights as fringe lunatics.? Insisting on constitutional rights does'nt mean that you are against gov't, law enforcement, or law and order. The document has proven to be a pretty reliable, and balanced piece of work, that protects us from over zealous and misguided authority. It should be mandatory reading in our schools, if it is'nt already. I don't have to a reason or an explanation for exercising my rights!
