Haven't been there yet, but heard they are getting "cleaned out". Lots of empty racks, especially archery stuff, no broadheads/arrows etc. Probably a good time to go, less stuff to buy! JIM>

Was over there on Wednesday, and heading back tomorrow with a friend. Not surprising they ar being cleaned out. Have no fear, I am sure they will get more goodies soon.

Bought a "claw" rifle sling for better grip on the shoulder, and a few other little things. Hmmm that reminds me I need to install that sucker! :D

See you out there tomorrow!

They cleaned me out the other day. I dropped $1,300 in there before I even knew what the heck happened. I just couldn't pass on getting the triple points on the CC. Bought a new pair of Meidels, a great book by Craig Boddington, a Cabelas metal 2-gun case for airline travel, and the doozy.. a new gun safe. I've been in the market for one for awhile and I figured that I better at least buy one while I'm here and get the points on the CC instead of waiting till next month and not scoring on the triple points and the good sale price. That sold me. Now, I've got to go back up there on Mon. to pick the thing up in my truck. We were in my wife's car and that thing wasn't gonna make into the back seat!

Scott, You coulda lashed it to the top of her car like in that Montana elk picture.

I figure a mid-week trip to Cabelas in about a month will be in order. The only thing I "need"

is a set of light, packable rainwear for Alaska. Saw some at SportsmanS, but would like to see the offerings at Cabelas.

Went up there on Saturday, lot of cool displays and some old and valuable guns. WAY too many people there though. I had to park across the street and walk and I felt like I was in Disneyland. They had a restaurant there where we ate lunch. Only thing I bought was a tshirt. I will go back in a few months when all of the fever dies down and I can enjoy it with my kids.

I have been to Cabela's twice now and I love it. It is far more than a store. It is more of an experience. I am lucky enough to be 3 minutes away from a Sportsman's Warehouse and 10 minutes from Cabela's. I have noticed that Cabela's store does not have some items that I can almost always get at SW. Also had a terrible experience with a cashier at Cabela's who obviously was very inexperienced (30 minutes waiting for her to ring up a guy who paid part of the bill cash and wanted the rest on his credit card) The stock in parts of the store was getting depleted by Sat. and the crowds were insane. Had to show a clerk that they did in fact, carry bivy sacks when he had never heard of them. All the kinds of things you would expect when such a huge place opens. Let me say though, I will be back on a regular basis. It is an Outdoorsman's Disneyland! I plan to spend an entire day in the Wildlife Museum when the crowds die down, just staring at all the unbelievable elk, muleys, lions, bear, etc. and of course Coues deer! I will still shop at SW for the items they stock and Cabelas doesn't. What a tragedy, I have 2 places to blow time and money and neither one is Walmart.

My buddy was working the parking all weekend and he said it was completly nuts out there. I was in Flagstaff doing a military vehicle rally, but got a phone call every thirty minutes with store updates. He even called me to let me know that they now have these camo clothes that have fake leaves hanging from them!! Crazy huh? He wouldn't listen to me though when I tried to tell him that those things have been around for years, he insisted that they were Cabela's newest design. I might make it over there this week.

By Sunday I couldn't take it anymore and decided to brave the crowds. I can't wait for them to die down some so I can look around and really see what I am looking at instead of looking to get out of some one's way. I thought the store was awesome and ended up getting a set of the cabelas f3 broadheads to try out. Since I work about 3 minutes from the store I am sure it will be a frequent stop on my way home.

Cramer,

How did those F3 broad heads work out? Did they spin well?

I was looking to order some from the catalog. The 100gr version. What did they run you?

Thanks!
