Unbelievable Dept. Mess UP!!!

Recommended Posts

Thanks Michael for sticking up for NR's' 10% ain't all that many tags.

AP15, Isn't 90% of YOUR TAGS enough. Wouldn't be a shame if we were all only allowed to hunt in OUR own states and never get to experience the Rocky Mtns of Colorado or the Missouri River Breaks of Montana or the Wind River Range of Wyoming or the Bob Marshall Wilderness of Idaho.

trufletch, your right on the money.

peckl1, I've done alot of out of state hunts and pick up more crap on the mountain left by the residents than I care to talk about.

azcamohead, I can't afford to send all those high NR tags fees up front. How in the world does that mean I'm not devoted. I love to hunt as much as anyone on the moutain and devote as much time as I can afford to my obsession.

If you cant afford to pay high NR tags, then i dont know what to tell you! Im not saying your not a devoted hunter, but like the guy above said hes not rich at all but he knows how to budget for his hunting! That is pretty much the same boat im in...all i have to do is budget! Im not talking about jacking the prices sky high, but i know one thing, i would most certainly be willing to pay more money for out top of the line hunts!

Now your telling me I need to learn how to budget my money!

NR license-$133.50

NR deer-$130.50

NR elk-$405.00

NR lope-$330.00

NR sheep-$1005.00

Total NR fees=$2004.00

I don't know to many people like me( married, two young boys, mortgage, etc.) that have that much cash lying around that they can just send it to the G&F for a few months. It will get even worse with the proposed fee increases.

It would be a shame if my boys never get to hunt the awesome state of AZ. The online apps. are the only way we can afford to apply in AZ.

Yet, if you try to weed out the weekend hunter or the guy that just wants to take his kids and buddies deer hunting once a year like his dad and buddies did, then you are going to lose the sport all together.

Thank you, DB

I wish I could hunt Colorado, but I can't afford it. Is that Colorado's fault?

I wish I could hunt Utah, Wyoming, Canada, and Africa, but there ain't no way I can find the money to do it - so I won't get to. Shall I blame someone other than myself? Maybe I can write an African country and tell them their hunting fees are unfair, after all they are depriving me of unforgettable experiences that should be shared between myself and my sons! Or maybe I should write the airlines. I can't afford a trans-contenental trip and it's not fair!

I applied for six hunts this year in AZ. and got drawn for only two. THAT"S NOT FAIR!!! I must blame someone... let's see... oh yeh, the Game and Fish! It's a conspiracy! I know it! And...and... those hillbillies - greedy slobs! and PETA, and, and those dang out-a-staters. I know USO's gotta have something to do with this, and I'm sure some rich guy is buying my tag right out from under me - 'cause of that crooked game dept.!

But wait a minute. Hold them horses. Last time I checked, this whole world was not all about ME. Maybe I can't afford these hunts because of other selfish decisions I have made in my life that have held me back financially. And now that I have my thinking cap on, I'm realizing that I really do have it pretty darn good anyway. Got a place to live, my wife loves me, my family is healthy, ain't hungry, and when I get hungry I'll eat something that's at my house or go and get something else. I am truley blessed!

I don't get to hunt elk, antelope, sheep, or buffalo this year. That didn't bother me at all when I woke up this morning and realized I've been granted another day. I want to live this day to the fullest! I'm glad I scheduled some time to help a few folks this evening. This is gonna be a great day!!

Now, what was it that I was complaining about earlier?

Must not have been important.

Mike

If you can not afford it up front you can't afford it later either. Same sacrifices just backwards you have to pay for it one way or another.

You guys really need to give the Arizona Game and Fish Department a break. Its just going to take them a couple years to work out all the bugs. So what if its getting worse, their new at this whole draw process and hunting thing. Jees! Cut them some slack would ya!

Ok well lets see 2004.00 devided by 52 weeks is 38.53 a week, do like I do start savin now. I have a seprate savings account, I add a little money here and a little money there, I started doing this 20 years ago, so I would have money to put in for hunts here in az. If I did not draw a tag I put that money back in the savings accont. That is how you can afford to pay now. I wish they would go back to the Pay up front. and paper apps

I think that fees should be charged up front, but I do not think a person should be forced to buy a hunting license just so they can APPLY for a hunt.

But, charging those fees upfront and issuing a refund check at the end cost the dept alot of time and money.

I still think the best way improve draw odds is to limit the amount of hunts you can apply for.

Pick one from each group.

Sheep, Buff, or Antelope and make rifle Antelope a once is a lifetime hunt.

Bull Elk, December Deer, North of the Colorado Deer (if you draw this, your app is removed and refunded from the last group)

Cow elk, Oct/Nov deer

So, that's 3 tags you apply for instead 4 every fall, big deal. One in a 10 thousand draws all 4 anyway.

Guest Ernesto C

I think somebody already posted someting like this: I just finished reading a letter my brother recieved from the Az. G&F. The letter says that my brother got drawn for deer but that he needs to send them a money order or cashier check for $19.50 before August 15 or he will lose his tag. The letter said that the credit card declined to pay the amount but it does not say why. My brother called his credit card company and they dont know nothing about it.

My brother will send them a money order tomorrow but he,like me he's all confuse........what's going on? Who knows?

Everything got messed up! Lots of people are getting letters and calls! i hardly know ANYONE that got any decent tag! IM NOT BLAMING THE DEPT. for ANYTHING!!! HOWEVER, i do think Jim hit it right on the head!!! Prices are going up for everything! The online Draw NEEDS To be suspended and you should have to put up the money up front!!!! And thats just my opionon....

If you can not afford it up front you can't afford it later either

That's true theoretically. On a practical level, though - you can apply for every species, but the chances of getting drawn for every species are pretty much nil.

Anyway, I'm done with this subject. It's divisive, and pointless

I agree with mzlloader. I started putting money away each paycheck years ago. If I don't get drawn, I have the option of letting that money buildup, or I can use it to buy a new 'toy'.

When you hear yourself say, "I can't afford to put in for Arizona if I have to pay up-front..." just ask yourself how you expect to afford it when those tag fees are put on your CC at 18% interest. Do what you want,...but at 18% interest, your tags will cost you atleast 10% more by the time you get them paid off.

"WHAT WOULD MAKE IT BETTER IS IF ALL OF THESE HILLBILLIES WOULD STOP PUTTING IN THIER ENTIRE FAMILIES IN THE DRAW!!!"

I thought hunting was supposed to be a family activity? What's wrong with entire families applying for hunts? Are you saying my 3 kids and myself should not be applying for hunts just so you can have a better chance of drawing a tag?

I don't understand the arguments of people that don't get drawn. There are more people wanting to hunt than animals available. End of story, and it will not change.

Yet, if you try to weed out the weekend hunter or the guy that just wants to take his kids and buddies deer hunting once a year like his dad and buddies did, then you are going to lose the sport all together.

Every 4 years, when elections role around, all the so-called SERIOUS hunters are begging for support on wildlife issues, gun control issues, etc from ALL SPORTSMEN/Women, but when it comes time to send in your tag applications, they want to limit the amount of people that can even apply for hunt.

Vote to save hunting! But please don't apply for a tag so I can get drawn!

PETA loves that!

Dude, I am not saying that you shouldn?t apply your kids!!! What I am saying is people shouldn?t apply people that don?t hunt just so they can go hunting. I talked to some guys the other day that were applying their wives who hate hunting as well as their grandmothers.

Get a life; if your wife doesn?t want to hunt don?t apply her, which is just throwing a good tag away. You won?t change her mind!!!

Desertbull you are being a little extreme, I am sure that we all want to hunt with our kids and no one is suggesting otherwise. It is just ridiculous to apply people that don?t want to hunt at all.

WOW this is a good topic lots of different good points and views from both angles. What it boils down to is that some people didnt get drawn for the tags that they wanted and have to have someone to blame be it the game and fish or the hunters who like using the pay option of the online tags apps. Either way u apply doesnt make u less of a hunter. Some people just need more help then others and theres nothing wrong with that so if you didnt get drawn for whatever reason stop blaming and be happy that others get to share in something that you also enjoy. It should be a common bond to share not rip apart due to BS and jealousy.

For those who didnt get drawn for whatever reason you are welcome to share my campfire when the time comes........

Here's my take on it- Can you buy a lottery ticket with a credit card??? No- it's against the law- in every state that has a lottery.

The big game draw in AZ is a lottery. Period.

Apply online so that you can correct any errors. Get a confirmation # and then send in your check. If you can't afford it up front, you can't afford it period. Those who say that they have to put in for a whole bunch of tags just to draw one, use an application service who will fund it for you or borrow the money from the bank. I know a lot of guys who borrow $15K every year to apply all over the west for everything so they can hunt something.

This process now is a real nightmare!
