Chef Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Can't remember how long ago we were talking about this. Anyhoo, picked up some 265 grain evolution ammo the other night at Cabela's. I've been searching for this for a while and the guys there said it goes quick so if you need it...go get it! I bought three boxes. I've yet to see how it patterns but I'll keep you folks posted. This is for .444 Marlin. In this pic. (in order)... 165 gr. HYDRA-SHOCK .45 COR BON 280 gr. BC SP .444 Hornady 265 gr. SP .444 Hornady 265 gr. KGAINES Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I am going to buy some for my 45/70 and see how they shoot, that is my favorite round and this could make it even better.
singleshot Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Check out the ballistics of the 160 grain leverevolution in 30-30. It's time to drag those old lever actions out of the closet.
More D Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Wow it looks like the case had be made shorter to get the over all lenght in line. I am sure it won't make a lick of difference, just funny is all. The only lever action I have is a 44mag. Talk about bullet drop!
Chef Report post Posted July 28, 2006 Singleshot, I agree, that thuty-thuty sure gains a lot with this ammo. It will be nice to see some more deer taken with this classic round.
KGAINES Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Chef have you tested the bullets out yet, I shot a box through my gun and found them to do really well.
KGAINES Report post Posted October 20, 2006 I wish they would make a few of the pistol calibers too, like the .357 and the .44 mag. I have several lever action rifles and would like to try them out, I haven't seen any reloading info on the leverevolution bullets. I have noticed that the hornady cases are shorter than the remengton and winchester cases for the 45-70 so if you are reloading make sure and check.
Chef Report post Posted October 20, 2006 I haven't had a chance to make it to the range. Any opportunity I get at free time heads me to scout for a friends Kaibab hunt, unit 23 elk hunt, and simply head out and shoot dove/quail! If I would have drawn, I'd sure be at the range too! LOL I'll be sure and post the results though as soon as I go. Here's my baby...
