6ANut Report post Posted October 4, 2012 Hey Brian I'll trade you some man power hauling an elk out for a quater of meat if I get one?? haha Since I plan on filling the freezer this year with elk and deer of my own. I will trade that quarter of meat for some jack daniels and a 30 pack of coors light.
antlerfreak Report post Posted October 4, 2012 nothing wrong with that 6anut as longest the mountains are blue and nothing better than some whiskey to warm up the blood on those late bull hunts

justinspe25 Report post Posted October 4, 2012 trophyhnter, I have not had a chance to get out yet. I am planning on it next weekend. I really hope we don't get a foot of snow or more on or before our hunt though.
trophyhnter Report post Posted October 5, 2012 trophyhnter, I have not had a chance to get out yet. I am planning on it next weekend. I really hope we don't get a foot of snow or more on or before our hunt though. Hope for snow but not too much...they will close the 300 road. On the other hand a light dusting of snow will always help in tracking! If you find a few sets of big track, follow slowly glassing as you go and you may just get luck! If I can find my maps, Ill send you a PM with two spots that I have seen them!
Devil Diver Down Report post Posted October 11, 2012 My wife has the Limited Opp. Sunset hunt, how about everyone else? That's a tough hunt! Did that one a few years back - the G&F officer I talked to said 'shoot the first one you see (bull, cow or calf) because it might be the last one you see!' I ate tag soup that year, but I did see a real nice bull along with another bull and one cow. Couldn't get into a good spot for the shot and those were the only/last elk I saw that hunt. Flatlander Report post Posted October 11, 2012 I killed an elk My wife has the Limited Opp. I killed an elk on that hunt a while back. It was the shortest hunt I have ever been on. Scouted for half a day, went back opening morning glassed up elk, got lucky when some other hunters started shooting and they almost ran me over. Done by 8:30 and it was pure blind luck. ready2hunt Report post Posted October 11, 2012 Just got back from the unit I'll be in....didn't hear much rutting during the day I went over a hill (away from the roads and camping areas) and the bulls were bugling pretty good but not fighting. Had a 5x6 eating/bugling next to me at 20 yards (he came in stealthy like) and scared me half to death. I LOVE this time of year!!!!!!!!! BTW 5B hunters....I saw a beautiful bull pushing 350 and 18 cows.......good luck!
