Willyhunts2 Report post Posted October 3, 2012 Congrats to everyone who brought home the backstraps. Let's hear about some of the close calls everyone had. We got into bulls pretty much every morning but didn't happen due to being busted most of the time. My buddy and I sat water one night had a nice 6x6 push 12 cows had 18 yard shot and my fletching caught a branch enough to send my arrow flying through the air straight up and down. Does anyone know the real percent of tags givin to non residents? We had camps around us from Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California. Seems like a lot more out of staters in that area than residents.

POB Report post Posted October 3, 2012 I hunted the last week of the hunt. Had spikes and raghorns galore within bow range but felt there were bigger bulls to be had. I called in a nice 5x5 but had cattle blow that at 75 yds. Walked up on a big boy on the last morning but the extreme wind got me at 40 yards while waiting for him to offer anything other than a texas heart shot. Actually saw more bulls than cows. Lots of fun though, maybe next time.
mpriest Report post Posted October 4, 2012 I think it is 10-15% of tags go to out of state applicants. I've found that alot of them seem to be clustered up because they all call the unit WM and he tells them all the same area.

I've found that alot of them seem to be clustered up because they all call the unit WM and he tells them all the same area. They all read the website info on azgfd which leads them to hunt the same area. I believe it's 10% of tags go to non resident, that's quite a big number, 300 tags equals 30 non residents hunting a particular spot that's mentioned by the wm or azgfd website
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted October 4, 2012 My dad had a 300-315" bull at 12 yards sitting water. Drew back on him, adjusted his feet and snapped a twig and they came our of their skin. Stalked a raghorn, he pushed his cow to 30 yards, my Dad drew back and of course the bull went around the tree instead of through the shooting lane. Called a bull into 40 yards, but he came in from behind us and saw me calling.
