Sundevils79 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 What gun is he using? What powder? I have used the Precision brand sabots in the pass with success but have recently switched to the hornandy SST low drags in a 250 gr. This is more than enought to kill an elk. bvanetten Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Wife just dropped an 800 lb bull in its tracks. a couple of days ago. Here are the stats TC Encore Pro Hunter 50 cal, 28 inch barrel 120 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder Barnes Spitfire TMZ .45 cal 290 grain sabot http://www.barnesbullets.com/products/components/muzzleloader/spit-fire-tmz/ No BS. The bull dropped in it's tracks. The all copper bullet expanded to about .80 of an inch. At the range it was holding 2 inch groups at 100 yards. I would be comfortable out to 250 yards with this setup.
