Very nice photos Doug, one o'these days I gonna have to crawl out of the 35mm era and purchase something digital.

What would be your recomendation for a good field camera? I would want 12x optical zoom cuz I aint good at get'n close.

I got a Coues rack sit'n right behind me now that would make yalls jaw drop, I found it when I first moved here from Oregon 20 years ago, left it sitt'n outside for about 10years, didn't really know what I had until a few years ago. Found it in a super hot secret spot

pretty nice bulls, seems the drought had little effect on them. No ribs and nice "backs" for some young bulls.

Thanks for the pics!

These boys were behind the house this morning. 13 total. I figure those with a bull elk tag would enjoy the velvet.

And to think I was excited as I left for work this morning @ 5:30. Why because the neighbors cat herd (house cats) was being reduced in #'s by a lone coyote. Wish I'd had a camera she posed for me and although nervous wasn't in a hurry to leave. I live in a rural setting in south gilbert, rapidly becoming urbinized. Seeing a herd of bull elk is just awesome. Is this norm or a fluke?

NICE PICS!!

Love2hunt,

Those bulls are around the Kachina Village/Forest Highlands area for most of the summer-till the rut starts. Seeing them is fairly common if one gets around to look.

Doug,

A big bull got hit Friday night on I-17 between Kachina and the airport. It looks like the 6x6 in your third photo down. I heard it was 48 inches wide with 53 inch main beams. What a shame!

I believe the 5-point in the bottom and second photo was taken by a Flagstaff archer in 6A West. Saw his European mount at the TR Taxidermy.

Doug, if the bull that I had on my trail camera and that 5 pt are the same bull, he is still alive. My dad just saw him this morning (Wednesday), and he was bedded down right where he was under my camera. Anyway, dont know for sure if he is the same bull or not, but sure looks similar with same single eyeguards and all. Unfortunately, he is still alive this afternoon. But maybe not by tonight. :P
