DBArcher Report post Posted July 26, 2006 I drew an early unit 21 whitetail tag and have a couple of questions, First, I have done my scouting and know where I want to go and see some big bucks during the december hunt. Will these bucks be in the same general areas during october, I have never had an early whitetail tag before so am not sure. The second questions is I have two choices for guns, A 243 win and a 3006. Guest Ernesto C Report post Posted July 26, 2006 If I were you I'll be checking the area where you know those big bucks hang on on December.You already know there are big bucks there so dont leave that area with out hunting it. Usually late december,bucks are were the does are so expect things to be a little diferent but be on the alert for a buck. On an early hunt and depending on how hot it gets water is a very important factor so get familiar with water holes. Hunt this areas really good and specially hunt hard on very early in the morning and late evening. As for the rifle take the one you shoot the best but like I said before.....if I were you,I'll take the 30-06. Take care and God bless.
