Fox News reported on a dog that was thrown from a vehicle in the middle of heavy traffic.

Great extent was taken to save this dog.

Vertebrae were damaged

Surgery was performed

Cast put on his neck

Rehab

The dog will now be available for adoption in two weeks, he is still wearing a neck brace.

It was determined that the dog had been a victim of dog fighting and had been used as a "teaser" dog, other dogs were allowed to beat up on it to get the taste of blood.

Sad story for sure, no doubt animal abuse in every sense of the word.

There is an organization in the city this happened that has offered $27,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the abusers.(According to the report all money used is donated money.)

Growing up as a kid, our dog got hit by the only semi for miles. Broke his hip, dad said there was no hope for the dog and we put the dog down.

Another dog we had started getting into the neighbors chickens. Dad took the dog out and put him down.

We raised pigs and cattle, we used available medicine for common issues but if an animal was "down", we put the animal out of its misery.

Is it just me, am I just not sensitive enough to animal issues?

It bothers me that so much money is spent on taking care of unwanted, sick, beat up cats, dogs, pets in general.

Sorry, needed something else to talk about besides the 47% :)

The person who did it needs to go to jail for a long time. That is sick.

The dog should have been put down, IMO. I don't have a problem with people spending their own money on the medical expenses for the dog if that's what they want to do, but it seems cruel to put the animal through all that suffering just to give a human a warm and fuzzy.

People want animals to be human, they have no concept or regard for the natural order of things. That poor dog has no ability to reason and will always be a victim of what it learned from the past so I can't imagine it will ever make it as a well adjusted pet.

I agree someone did all of this to make themselves feel better.

For the record I have had a small dog that we spent thousands on in medical bills due to an immune deficiency but the dog was well adjusted and had no physical limitations. So I am not heartless regarding pets but believe there is a pretty clear cut line if thy have a true physical problem that results in suffering.

I grew up on a farm. When our dog had puppies, my Grandafther would put them in a burlap sack, and beat them to death with a club. That man had no heart when it came to animals. I have always been a big softie with pets.

I despise animal abuse. A quick clean death is one thing, but what happened to the dog in heavy traffic is horrible. I sincerely hope the responsible party has the same thing done to them.

Did I miss it? Where did this take place? It doesn't matter, the person responsible should pay, and pay deerly. It's hard to imagine someone so heartless.

Obviously the care given to this dog kept it alive. The people that performed the care I imagine volunteered their time.... animals are resilient when it comes to life and death....what is pain? just a moment in time..... everything copes with pain differently.... one thing that holds true, when death is near...everything holds out as long as it can.

I don't think your being insensitive, however if it were a family pet in my household it would be hard to justify spending the cash.....
