triton Report post Posted September 18, 2012 My son drew the 36B November youth tag this year and I was wondering how many people were going to have Thanksgiving in camp. I havent got the flyer yet from SCI Az chapter yet, so I wasnt sure if there was any activities pla nned for Thursday afternoon. (Im sure everyone will be out glassing in the evening). Just wondering what to do (Potluck or everyone on their own)
stanley Report post Posted September 18, 2012 Get in touch with the SCI guys from Tucson. (azsci@yahoo.com) They'll give you the information you're looking for. They run an awesome youth camp! It will be interesting this year, being over Thanksgiving. Typically, there will be some breakfast provided early and burgers/dogs around lunch time. They also like to do a pot-luck at least one night, plus they'll provide other food. Gabe will usually break-out the dutch-ovens and make enough pie/cobbler for the entire camp! Send them an e-mail and they'll give you the details. They're a good group of folks! Good luck to your son! S.
triton Report post Posted September 19, 2012 Thanks Stanley. I met you there a few years ago. Are you going to be there this year?
stanley Report post Posted September 19, 2012 Ah..... Sorry I didn't remember meeting you. I have met a LOT of folks there over the years! This will be one of the first years in MANY that I will not be down there. My two youngest got Kiabab Junior tags (3 weeks away!). My oldest son and I, plus a couple of friends, have 24A tags this year. I grew-up in Kearny and decided to give some of the old stomping-grounds a try this year. Good luck on the hunt! I'll miss being down there. Get in touch with Gabe and the guys prior. They'll take good care of you guys! S.
Crowbait Report post Posted October 1, 2012 There should be a good turn out. Gabe and SCI Prez Bobby do a good job. Gabe burn't the cobbler last year. He can redeem himself this year. I for one cannot get there until Friday afternoon. Curious on everyone working around Turkey day. Bobby is having Thanksgiving there. I cannot wait for the hunt. Hope weather holds up
stanley Report post Posted October 2, 2012 I'm really bummed that I can't join this year. Gabe will no doubt work hard on cobbler redemption! Maybe Bobby or someone will smoke a turkey?? S.
azffhunter Report post Posted October 7, 2012 My family and another are going up the Wednesday before and are having Thanksgiving there on Thursday. We are just getting a pre-made dinner from the store...figured it was easier and would let us be out grassing most of the day without having to make a big meal. Can't wait...we had such a great time last year!!!
luckysob Report post Posted October 12, 2012 Glad to see this post !! My family and some friends and board will be down on Thanksgiving morning to set up camp. We will be deep frying our turkey and watching some football. The SCI camp will be set up for anybody to use. If you all want to bring a turkey and toss it in the fryer. Or why not make a turkey dinner pot luck ?? I am open to suggestions. SCI will provide breakfast , lunch and dinner Friday, breakfast lunch on Saturday with the potluck Saturday night. Gabe is the dessert man, so maybe bring some ice cream but we prefer a small dish of some dinner meal. Drinks and water are provided. Sunday we provide breakfast. We do have a skinning tripod for deer or pigs and we try to assign a guide for at least a half day so every body has an extra glass man with them. Stan we will miss you this year, I will eat an extra burger for you ??? Bobby, SCI
