Go with the ttsx it is better. Shot a coues at 200 with the 160 tsx and it never opened up at all. Acted like a fmj. Same with an elk at 600. Poked small hole right through and never opened up.

Since you are shooting a 160 grn I'm assuming you are shooting a 7mag...at 600 yards you may not have the velocity to open a TSX properly. It's my understanding it requires 1600 ft/sec or more to get the bullet to expand properly. Some have stated as high as 1800 ft/sec is required.

600 is the end of the range for the 160 tsx out of a 7mag but still had 1800 fps or slightly over. Coues at 200 definitely had enough but still acted like an fmj. Got the kill though.

Go with a 175 sierra gameking out of a 7mag and it has enough to effectively kill at 1000 yds. That is my new choice. Blows the tsx out of the water as far as performance.

How did the coues react? I have seen small exits from those bullets with massive internal damage that could not have possibly Been caused by a bullet that did not expand.

My theory is that because they hold together so well and don't cause 2" exits like others Many people assume they don't expand because if the small exit hole, yet the Animal dies quickly with massive internal damage.

Here is a smallish exit on a coues.

That buck was shot at 400 yards and fell over dead.

Here is a ttsx recovered from a coues. Scoutm was there to see this buck drop, violently.
