cvw789 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Well several days of scouting we were able to find this good looking buck for my wife to shoot. Opening morning we were able to find him right away. She was able to get him in the scope about 4 times before she was able to get a good shot at him at 180 yrds. Needless to say she was extrememly happy this being her first speed goat. Rough taped he was 77 3/8" Cole

Big Tub Report post Posted September 12, 2012 That is one tough tag to draw. I got it in 1990 and saw 100 antelope per day. Not so long ago I helped a friend bowhunt there -- we did not see 100 antelope the whole hunt. THAT IS A GREAT BUCK. I understand they translocated a bunch of antelpe down there just a few weeks ago. I wonder if he was one of them. CONRATS ON A GREAT BUCK.
cvw789 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Thanks guys! I spoke with several game wardens that were involved with the attempted transplant. From what they said they couldn't get them in the cages to bring them over so they are going to try again next year. It's very different from back in the 90s we only glassed up 8 different bucks and 45-50 does.
trophyhnter Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Great buck! I had that tag in the late 90's and I saw a lot of antelope. I didnt know much about scoring at the time but looked at many bucks and most looked good to me. We saw herds of does with 20 to 30 in them. All the herds had small bucks, which I found odd but them you would see 2 or 3 big bucks chasing a poor doe around to breed. The buck I shot looks a lot like that one! Its a shame that you didnt see as many as we did in the past!
