OneTeam Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Just bought a .300 win mag, whats your opinion on which 180 grain factory load i should shoot and the effective range. Im purchasing the Leupold VX-3 6.5-20x40 with turrets once i know of the right load. Will eventually switch to reloading with my next gun purchase. i was leaning toward the superformace series but im still unsure..
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Me, personally I'd go for something in the 165-168 grain area. I used a 168 TTSX in Africa and it worked amazingly well. That way you get high BC's mixed with a slightly higher muzzle velocity. What is/are your intended target(s)?
jamaro Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Don't listen to Casey... he still owes me $50.... 180 is fine but just find something that your rig likes... I think that is more important than anything... Some guns like 180's some like lighter.. Both will do the job, just find something your gun likes.. Also, if it is a new gun you might want to feed something CHEAP down the barrel until it is broken in... J-
Kaffer62 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 I have shot a 180 grain Sst superforance round. My rifle likes that round and it shoots sub moa with it. Try a bunch of different rounds and see what it likes the best
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 I'll tell you this one last time, since you dont seem to get it otherwise. Show me where/what from I owe you $50 and a $75 check will be in the mail the next day (you know, for your pain and suffering). Other than that, STFU.
