AHUNTER Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Well have been out scouting for my elk hunt in unit 11M and the mosquitoes are real BAD!! out there, which im sure its bad everywhere. My question is what repellent works best for you hunters out there without smelling too bad? I have a thermal cell which works great in the blind or while just sitting a area but i when im on the move thermal cell doesnt work as good. Just thought it would be a good topic as we will all be dealing with these mosquitoes.
lucky2hunt Report post Posted September 10, 2012 I use No Stinkin Bugs by Scent Shield - I picked it up at Bull Basin in Flagstaff. Up here in the Flagstaff area Therma Cells seem to work great the first time you start them, then after that I started to run into problems. After doing some research I found this stated on the instructions and even on the Cabelas website: This ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent is not designed to run at altitudes above 4,500 feet. The manufacturer states that units become difficult to start and run at altitudes above 4,500 feet above sea level.
AzHuntingAddict Report post Posted September 10, 2012 The little off pager looking things work good for me. You just put it on your belt or clip it to your shirt and it keeps them away. http://www.outdoorpros.com/Prod/Off!-71703-Clip-On-Mosquito-Repellent-Starter-Unit/81599/Cat/1368?gclid=CIjfx4apq7ICFWlMpgodWXUAeA

Snapshot Report post Posted September 11, 2012 They are bad here in central Tucson also. Everytime I open the door, a couple of the bloodsuckers find their way in and impale me all night.
