tjhunt2 Report post Posted September 17, 2012 Congratulations to your son on his first buck but this isn't going to fly. His first shot ever at a buck and you don't tell the whole story? I would like to hear your son get on here and tell his version of his hunt. He had to be more than excited. That is an awesome first time buck for sure. Thanks for sharing and I suggest your son become a member. I still would like to hear the story. TJ

legal_addiction Report post Posted October 12, 2012 My dad finally talked me into creating an account. The story behind this deer is...We were hunting an area my dad had scouted and was seeing alot of bucks consistantly. After hearing of all these bucks I finally was getting to hunt them. We were hunting along this little dirt road that winds up a mountainside. On the way up I was starting to have the smallest bit of doubt about my dads area because we had only seen one doe. After about 3 hours we finally reached the top and we took a little break and took some pics to bring back to my mom. On the way back down we started getting into the action. after about 30 minutes I spotted a little 2 point but only after it had spotted us first. it spooked but still seemed to be 100 yards off just out of sight. I pursued on knowing I have no chance at a spooked buck but I mean come on, I want to kill a deer! 20 minutes later I realized that deer was long gone and we headed further back down the road. 10 minutes later i find myself on another buck of about the same size but this time he is with a doe. I ranged him at 73 yards but I didnt have a clear shot and he was a few inches out of my effective range. Now my heart had sank after 2 failed encounters. About 20 minutes later my dad whispers big buck! big buck! Im desperately trying to spot this buck while my dad is about to come unglued. IT'S A BIG 4 PT!!! Whispered my dad. Even though I could not find him I knocked an arrow and hooked my release. As I look up I see the deer and draw back as soon as he turned his head. I remember looking at his hide behind my pins and telling myself to take my time. I let the arrow fly and instantly felt sick. "I missed", I told my dad. My arrow went skipping through the bushes at what seemed like full speed. My dad had assured him that he was hit good. he told me about how he kicked when i shot. Unsure of my shot we decided to back off and come back at daylight. after a sleepless night we were back in the morning to find he went about 100yds down the hillside. Now that I spent an hour typing im going to wrap it up. I'll try to upload more pics
