vegasjeep Report post Posted August 31, 2012 I rarely venture north of Phoenix anywhere. I was thinking about heading out for a quick camping trip tomorrow for a 2 day little trip. Where does any recommend to get away to cool off a bit, tent camp and be able to have a fire? Thinking of throwing the dogs in the Jeep and heading out in the morning. stanley Report post Posted August 31, 2012 If you're in the East valley, the Rim country has lots to offer. Take the Rim road towards Bear Canyon lake. Once you get up the road a bit, pick a 'two track' and follow it. Lots of spots up in that area if you drive around a bit. If you live North or West valley, maybe check-out the Stoneman Lake area or just North of that..... Rocky Park road off of I-17 can lead to some nice spots, but I suppose you'll have to watch-out for the new Coconino camping regulations there so watch-out. I hope you find a good spot! S. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 1, 2012 Go up Mt Graham.....I was up there last week and it was in the mid 50s with lots of rain and fog. Loved it! They also recently graded the dirt rd, so it's a lot nicer going up there than it was just a few weeks ago.
