Unit 21 Antelope info

Recommended Posts

My uncle has a rifle tag and I was just wondering what to expect. I had a 21 archery tag a few years ago and had a couple nice bucks in the high 70's but couldn't close the deal. We have been out scouting a ton and haven't seen a single goat we believe will go over 75", and we've looked at a ton of bucks. Shooting a 14-15" buck isn't an issue. Just thought I'd pick your brains to see if any of you believe there are any B&C bucks out in 21 or if we should lower our expectations. Just haven't see one that screams "big buck". Any input is helpful, not looking for GPS coordinates.

BTW if you're a 21 antelope tag holder and do want to shoot any buck or have a youth with a tag pm me. I grew up chasing goats in WY and would be glad to help out.

I would be a good idea to call the game manager for the unit and pick his brain. They are always helpful when you put in the time and then ask for help. Im sure he would have a good Idea if and where the potential for a buck in the eighties, if any.

We did, and we talked to a couple archery hunters and all said a 15" is a trophy out there.

I have a rifle tag in 21 this year as well. We have been scouting hard all summer and have not seen a lot of bigger bucks. The ones we have seen are getting a lot of pressure from the archery hunters right now. I doubt the few big bucks in the unit make it past noon on opening day. I am not very good at judging antelope, but I don't think there are very many bucks over 80". My goal was to try and shoot an 80" buck, but I think I might have to settle for something smaller. It doesn't really matter tho, I have my whole family coming up for the hunt. I will be happy with any nice looking goat. Good luck! Hope you guys can find a big one.
