Petey7215 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 My dad, our friend Kevin, and myself recently took a trip to South Africa, we hunted just outside of Kimberly which is south west of JoBurg by about 7 hours. In seven days of hunting 24 animals hit the dirt between three of us. Thanks to Andries VanZyl with Mount Carmel Safaries. My Red Hartebeest Kevin with his Black Wildebeest and Franke the baddest dog in the land Dad with his Blue Wildebeest Dad and myself with his Waterbuck

Petey7215 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 Wow! I have never been to Africa. Was this your first trip there? how did you like the experience? This was a first trip for all of us, and it was a very interesting experience to say the least. There is definitely a diferent philosophy to hunting over there. If I ever get the chance to go again I will do a true safari, tent camp style and not on a ranches. I had fun dont get me wrong but I wont go back unless I can do something like that. Petey7215 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 Great pics/ great success! I like the pictures with the 700 CDL as your weapon of choice on many of your game. Thats what I used on every animal I killed. Its also my coues gun and elk gun and coyote gun and pig gun and so on. Its a .270 win and I have had it for almost 15 years. The trigger breaks like glass and I put the Vortex on it last year and it is as crisp and clear as any scope I have ever looked through. I think I might order quick adjustment turrets for it though. Snapshot Report post Posted August 30, 2012 Nice animals. Based on how everyone is dressed, it seems like it might have been chilly!

Petey7215 Report post Posted August 31, 2012 Redicuously cold, woke up to 2" of snow one morning and the wind never blew less than 15-20 mph for the entire trip, which made shooting off of sticks very tricky
