Preparation for upcoming hunts what Diet and conditioning.

Recommended Posts

Unless I'm out of town hunting or camping I am mountain biking 20-30+ miles a week, mostly in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve near my house. Have to do early morning or night riding during the hot months, but it is easier for me to keep in shape than get in shape...

I just want to add that before you guys start an exercise program go see your Doc and get a checkup. I have a habit of pushing myself to the extreme sometimes to get to the top of the hill in one last burst.

I like the feeling of accomplishment and never though too much about my heart pounding away. Last year I noticed when I look through my big binos on the tripod that I my pulse was moving my eyes ever so slightly.

Well over the fourth I did a Nuclear Stress Test and after about 8 minutes the nurse stopped it because my Blood Pressure soared to over 230 so now I am taking medicine for it.

I wonder how many times in the last year or so it went higher than that when I was really pushing it?

Im working off a couple major surgeries to the ankle of all things to be getting in shape with.

Have a few things Im looking to do. Want to start crossfit and try doing that to help as well as a goal of doing a toughmudder in February.

Going to start some moderate hiking around the valley. easy and gentle at first...

I did the TuffMudder in Big Bear in July. It was AWESOME! I highly reccomend it. Great way to get ready for hunting season.

I have been doing the 30 Day Shreader program with that horrible lady Jillian. She must be married, always talking, always yelling...never shuts up long enough to listen. She is not even nice about it. Stand up...get down ...stand up...it was like the worst Catholic wedding ever! But it works

Lots of lean high protein meats and cheeses for lunch with green vegatables (as much as you can stand), and salads with minimal lowfat dressing. Eat breakfast everyday, plus 5-6 small meals a day and lots and lots of water. Cut out processed and fast/fried food all together. Drinking is allowed but in moderation. No fruit after lunch because fruit has sugar and sugar convets to fat easily and no carbs after 5 pm and cut carbs drastically as well, being smart about the ones you do eat (i.e. whol grain tortillas, 100% wheat, etc.). I also take wilderness athlete products ( multi vitamin, lean life, meal replacement, and green infusion) and i think they have made a great impovement for meal as far as generaly feeling better. WARNING: WA is not cheap. I recently went to Africa and did all this before i went and lost 14 lbs. in about 6 weeks. And although i gained some back while in Africa i have started it up again and i am beginning to shed weight as before. Also, and this is the hardest part for me, do at a very minimum 1 hour of exercise daily, even if its just walking the neighborhood. I like to do the elypticle trainer on hill and cross country programs becasue i have bad knees, and im fat and running sucks ! Shoot me a message if you have any questions. Good luck !

I am working on a resort rennovation project here in Tucson. It gives me LOTS of excercise. As far as diet, the first thing I need to do is quit drinking Monster energy. I use it as a crutch, and drink way too much of the garbage to keep me going.

5 hour energy
