Airbusdriver Report post Posted August 8, 2012 I thought I might take a whack at an early turkey hunt with bow (Aug 24-Sep 13). Can anyone recommend a good unit? Not asking you to disclose your honey holes, just a good unit to take my Jeep and start some scouting to get out of this heat! Thanks in advance.
Little Creek Calls Report post Posted August 8, 2012 3C or 23 are great units. Also unit 1 and 27 but they are a little farther drive.
ready2hunt Report post Posted August 8, 2012 +1 to unit 1 & 27....find a water hole with a lot of tracks and then circle the area...you can't go wrong. They are everywhere
kimberx2 Report post Posted August 8, 2012 Units 23 and 6a seem to have a good number of turkeys. Plus they are up in the pines. A lot cooler than here in the valley.
WHALE Report post Posted August 8, 2012 23 north would get my vote. nice weather and a few birds as well. I love it up there this time of year
Airbusdriver Report post Posted August 8, 2012 23 seems to be the way to go for me. I can get up and back in the same day for scouting. If memory serves, Hells Gate Wilderness Area/Bear Flats looks like it might be good. 6a is some great country, too...love the area up by Happy Jack. Thanks for the tips...keep 'em coming.
