The way life should be.

I agree. Make those thugs think twice before storming a room full of citizens.

That should be shown and talked about on national news way more than any of these crazies killing innocent people.

I love it.. I hope that I, or any of my fellow conceal carriers are ever involved in a violent crime like this, however it feels good to know that I will not go down unarmed and hoping for my safe well being. I love that this guy taught these worthless scumbags a lesson, only wish it was a permanent one. Great video. thanks for posting.

Proof positive that a little .380 ACP is not enough gun. I wish he'd have been carrying at least a .38SPL- HOLLOW POINTS PEOPLE!!! If those bad guys really had their stuff together they would have returned fire on that old guy- but turns out they were scared out of their minds that someone was shooting at them! And I think this incident is still a good example of what an armed citizenry can provide... He did make some serious tactical errors that could have gotten himself killed/charged with a crime/sued. I absolutely LOVE how he deliberately changed his attack angles to avoid collateral damage... but I do not think he should have continued the attack all the way out the door like he did. The threat was subdued at that point and he should have hunkered down, called the police, and reloaded. He even shot at them several times when they were clearly running away- and he shot out the door at them while they were running away. Honestly, those were some risks that we should address in CCW classes. I hope that no judge in this world would let this man be charged or be held liable for anything... but the window is open because of some of the "heat of the moment" errors he made.

I think that an argument could be made that the threat was not over, maybe it was to him, but others could have still been in danger. The fact that grandpa pursued the thugs does not necessarily make him liable. Because he took it upon himself to rescue the others, it fell upon him to see that the threat was completely ended. Notice he did not leave the building. Once the thugs were gone and posed no more threat to the patrons of the cafe, grandpa stopped firing.

Either way, the last thought I ever want going through my mind is "I wish I had my gun." Great video.

luvdemcoues: You are right and I guess in my own wierd way I was trying to say that he shouldn't be held liable for anything... BUT, case law shows that sometimes courts go a little off the common sense path and starts nit-picking the scenario and the good guy ends up catching criminal charges or wrongful death/assault with deadly weapon/negligence monetary settlements. That's why we need more judges and jurys that will stand up and support these types of heros. That's why we need to educate our CCW's to shoot only when it is absolutely necessary and stop shooting when the threat is eliminated. EXAMPLE: You can shoot a guy wielding a 2x4 running at you until he stops coming at you, but if you plug him in the head after he's laying on the ground- did you then cross a line? Example: man pulls a knife and it looks like he's threatening you, you pull your gun, he sees it and turns to run away... can you still shoot him? Same thing in this scenario- the bad guys were sprinting towards the door in what I see as an effort to escape with their lives... good guy chases them very deliberately and keeps shooting at them even after they've exited the premises. That round that he shot out of the door was probably the only one that would have sent him to jail if he'd hit somebody's little kid... Clearly this man knew what he was doing and didn't cause any collateral damage- but just something to think about when you're letting the copper coated lead fly.
