KidBowHunter Report post Posted August 7, 2012 I drew a junior tag for 20A mule deer in October. I'm gonna use my bow, and I know Big Bug Mesa is a good area, but does anyone know of some other good areas or have any siggestions? Don't know much about mule deer, and would like to get one. Thanks, Troy
lugnuts Report post Posted August 20, 2012 Big Bug Mesa is very crowded/waste of time and there are no deer around Crown King. Thats all I know about 20A. I am going up there this weekend for the opener but not taking it too serious. I went up there and looked around Crown King and didnt see even a deer track. I think those local mountain men might be living off the land (ie deer). Either that or the fires have moved the deer out of there. I am mostly going up there because the heat in the valley is driving me crazy and one of my friends just bought a new cabin.
donniedent Report post Posted August 21, 2012 20a has a lot of deer but can get pretty thick where they live. Crown King area will bounce back as soon as it greens up. Big Bug mesa has a lot of deer but a lot of hunters as well, not a waste of time if you can figure out where the deer are pushed when pressured. The areas around Lynx Lake hold deer but you gotta watch for other hunters and private property just to the south a ways. There are always a few deer in the Walker area but that's all private. There are pockets of public land in Walker but still too close to cabins to hunt with a rifle. There are some areas between Groom creek and Spruce mountain that hold deer. If I had a tag in there I would research the southwest portion of the unit.

moose Report post Posted September 20, 2012 I've spent quite a bit of time in that area and there are a lot of nice deer. If you have the patience to sit, head down towards Skull Valley. Go on google earth and find water near some of the alfafa feilds down there then put some boots on the ground and find trails between the water and the feilds. Set up a blind and be patient. Good Luck! Matt

Good Luck! Matt My wifes first deer was from Skull Valley and thats how we hunted, find trails from Hills into fields and then get up high on hillside and glass them up coming in the evening and coming out in the moring. Look for deer crossing signs on road side good place to start from.
