123456 Report post Posted August 5, 2012 270 is plenty of speed. Do not overthink it. More speed = More problems. Trying to tweak out an extra 10fps isn't going to be worth it. It isnt going to be the difference between a kill and a not so kill. Ask Chuck Adams. Seems that guy was able to kill lots of animals with a bow that was nowhere near 300. BASS Report post Posted August 6, 2012 You should be getting around 75ish kinetic pounds. Doesn't seem like a lot, but focus that onto a couple razor blades and it suddenly seems like more than enough!
Newbster98 Report post Posted August 16, 2012 I agree with Bass a 325 grain arrow with 125 grain head gives you 450 grains total arrow wieght shooting 270 FPS. What are you complaining about thats like 75 foot pounds of kinetic energy wich is fantastic.
trophyhnter Report post Posted August 17, 2012 Swhacker recommends a minimum of 60 ft-lbs of kinetic energy when using Swhacker Broadheads..... So you will get a pass through on any coues with any broadhead you use.
bojangles Report post Posted August 31, 2012 also try factory made strings. some string makers don't build them to the exact tolerances the bow was made for, and it really slows them down. I get 290 out of a matthews mission x3 that is advertised at 310. 29" draw. Cant remember what my arrow weight is, but i think my bow would do 310 ibo with 350 grain arrow at 30 inches. i'm careful to only use mathews strings. i'm not a bow guru, but that's just some info someone passed on to me, and it seems to work.
