#1huntinfool Report post Posted August 5, 2012 ....like i posted in the other thread, you cant do this with a glock. And you can get hi cap mags for a 1911. This is my Dad, IPSC World Champion and USPSA National Champion. And guess what? He uses a 1911, If one of the most elite military branches, thinks that the 1911 is the gun to go with, then they are probably right.

AverageJoe Report post Posted August 6, 2012 Any gun modified to shoot in the open class is capable of shooting just as fast. Nothing about a 1911 makes it any better than other guns. If anything they are less reliable from the factory than most guns. Polish and port the feed ramp and they are great.

sjvcon Report post Posted August 6, 2012 I've said it before and I'll say it again. Out of the box a 1911 will outshoot any other handgun for accuracy with FEW EXCEPTIONS. I love my 1911. The trigger is great. The fit and finish is great. I have about 500 rounds down the pipe since my last cleaning (doing my own little test) and it has yet to hickup. And if I can't hit what I'm aiming at with 8 shots ... well then I am going to have to rely on my hand to hand skills and hope they work. That said, I carry a HK USP .45 or a CZ P01 as a primary carry weapon. They are just idiot proof, and though not nearly as accurate to shoot they get the job done. I have had the USP covered in mud and dirt and it still fired like a champ. I hear the testing included cryo freezing them and also clearing a wedged slug with a fired round ... and they still fired well. USP is a great gun. Still love that dang 1911 ... if I want to knock a thimble off a Bull's Butt, that is what I am using. And yes ... Matt McLearn is just that good ... he could do that with a .380, .38 Super, 9mm, .357, .40 S&W, .45ACP or just about anything else you could fit in a handgun. I sure as heck wouldn't bet against him.
